I had a pretty funny wincon for colorless the other day. If you somehow manage to cast 3 copies of echoes of eternity in one game it’ll crash the client and force a draw lol. Not technically a wincon I guess but it was hilarious forcing a draw by making the game try to spawn 150 power stone shards at once.

Yeah this was one of my fav decks you made. Loved playing it but going up against control or the tokens deck was basicly just scoop it up. I am stoked you updated it to be stronger vs those decks, I just think you had terrible draws which is really the Arena vibe.

That match where you died on turn 3 with 2 lands is a clear indicator that WotC has broken the game. Same thing has happened to me...MANY times. A STANDARD deck should not be able to consistently win on turn 3 like these ones do. Not only that, but even if the opponent didn't have a nut draw like that, the rest of the Red line-up gives that deck extremely powerful follow through. If they don't beat you on turn 3 they certainly will on turn 4. Red has haste, menace, trample, double strike, plot, card draw, direct damage, fling, self-fling, counters , prowess and more stapled all over EVERY card. Add all that into a deck that only has to run 18 lands BECAUSE the hand smoother pretty much guarantees them the two lands they need every game, and you get BROKEN.

@@Shog64 I think the reason most people are okay with red being as crazy strong as it is is because of how glass cannon-y it is. If you run proper removal, odds are you just win against them. also as a side note if red were slower than this, red would just fold to every insane control tool that currently exists in the format. Temp lockdown, the 3 mana deal 3 to everything, Elspeth's Smite-there are a LOT of really good tools Mardu has to just completely destroy a red deck right now.

Perfectly balanced game where an aggro deck can deal 20 damage with 2 lands in play, while the opponent can't even play a single card. I think it would be much healthier to remove Callous Sell-Sword from Standard altogether. Or add crazy overpowered spells for Midrange and Control decks as well. If Callous Sell Sword can deal 5-10 damage with 1 ability, why shouldn't Control decks get a 1 mana sweeper?

Hello CGB! I have a question for you regarding a gameplay decision at about 16:40. Specifically, when your opponent casts Sunfall on 9 lands with five additional cards in hand. Would it have been a correct play to use No More Lies here? Obviously, your opponent will pay the 3 mana because they want the 7/7 in stats off the board-but if they do that, then they have no mana for your next turn. This means you can set up a Virtue of Persistence, letting you steal things like their Chrome Host Seedshark that died two turns earlier, and we know what's in their deck-their only real removal for enchantments is Get Lost, which would also be used to remove your Nissa which you had on the board. Of course, there's no perfect line-it might be that they tap out for a massive Silver Scrutiny down the line that you would then have the option to counter with it. But I thought it was worth asking.

CGB - Any chance you could try some budget decks? I love seeing all these cool decks but I simply don't have the wildcards to build more than 1-2 decks per month. I'd love to play more standard but I'm stuck in Brawl-world til I can craft something decent. My bunnies deck only has about half the rares it should have, and the hodgepodge discard deck I use in standard did get to Diamond last season, but it could be a lot better. Mono-Red sucksssssssss

This is amazing! This is my third time commenting about this Abzan control list lol I love it. Last comment I made about I said what I put in and took out, I wont repeat that. It still functions fine and I would have made it to mythic if I had the time to invest. I was diamond 2. I dont lose often. I am curious to see how this modification works for it. I def like a couple of these cards, like cease. Although I cant count how many times I play White suns and they scoop, have to see how I feel about that change. Looks pretty fun either way!!

Did I read the decklist right that its splashing white for 3 total cards? not 12 copies of 3 cards, but 3 cards with white pips? I run golgari control with robbery as a wincon and the big difference is using up the beanstalk + virtue of strength as the engine along with some sac lands so virtue hits land drops. It lost a lot by not having the deterministic combo of Dig Up and Shigeki anymore. But the black season is effectively deadly coverup 5-8, since sunfall was the whole reason to splash white in the first place

Cacophony Scamp needs a ban in standard to cut down the consistent turn 3 kills, Heartfire Hero is the real problem, but I doubt Wizards would even consider cutting a new cute mouse
