AC-47/AC-130 Gunship Heritage Formation - Thunder Over The Heartland 2021

A formation flight with an AC-47 "Spooky" (Vietnam War-era gunship) and an AC-130J "Ghostrider" (modern gunship) at the 2021 Thunder Over The Heartland airshow in Topeka, Kansas. This flight was a photo shoot and practice run for future airshow appearances.

It's amazing that the C-47 is an older aircraft and it is way louder than the Lockheed C-130 Hercules

The late model J-Hercs with the upgraded turbines and 6-blade scimitar props are quieter than classic C-130s. Personally I love the low tone drone of the older, smokey 4-paddle bladed hercs.

@@wolfgagger Great, that’s your opinion on this matter. Managing to hear radial engines alongside the sound of the C-130 in a video where the audio is guaranteed slightly distorted is much different than one being “way louder” than the other, hence why I commented what I did.

No wheels, you put power on the engines and hold 1 brake

For the C-47 airframe, yes, it's differential braking..for the C-130, we steer the nose wheel. We also can accentuate that with differential thrust..forward on one wing's props, and reverse on the other. Hope that helps.
