Thank you Mark! Beautiful photography, actually made me cry. I'm a first class machinest, CAD/CAM programmer. I drew, programmed and machined parts for the A-10. This and the B1 Lancer are my favorite jets. I wanted to be a pilot. I went to college for aeronautical engineering but couldn't afford the flight time. Back then it was only $20k. That was the late 70's. Sad to see the Warthog go. I can still see a need, very few, but still a specific mission for her. Thank you Lindsay MAD Johnson for a wonderful ride along. I was imagining the maneuvers g force. Amazing watching you position your upper body to counter the g load. ❤

Great video of inside cockpit action. I'm an old weapons troop, retired MSgt. First saw two A-10s fly when I was at Ready Eagle school Langley AFB Va. in 1977. Yeah, brand new A-10s then. Put on a show for the brass, I was like holly cow, like radio controlled airplanes, snap turns etc. Back then they were for the Cold War with USSR Russia, the wall not tore down yet, tank killers. Finally got to work on them at DM, well sort of, I was a Weapons Flight Chief. Got to watch them close up a Gila bend gunnery range once. I retired just as Kuwait deployments began. The F-15 and A-10 are my favorites.

Awesome video! My 8 year old son and I were right in front of the plane during the start up and waited for her to land. My son talked to Lindsay twice earlier in the day, and after she landed and came over to the fence where everyone was watching, she saw my son and walked right up to him first to talk to him again. Such a cool experience, and Lindsay was awesome taking time to talk to him. We’ve seen the A-10’s several times, and it’s sad to know this was the last time we’d see them fly. It’s cool to have your video, along with the ones I took, as a memory of the day. Between planes we would just hang around the dirt strip. I had to use the can so I walked up a small rise on the side of the strip just in time for an A10 to come up over that hill about 40 feet over my head, I saw him, he saw me, I fell on my back, wet myself, I think he pulled up laughing maybe, but it left an impression on me. 😊

As an Aeroscout Aviator I used to plan, coordinate and run Joint Air Attack Team (JAAT) missions with A-10s and sometimes, artillery. I personally witnessed the accuracy the Warthog pilots can achieve, not just with their Avenger cannons, but with their "dumb bombs". I would give them a target and it wasn't much effort for them to actually land one right on top of a target. IMHO, the Thunderbolt II was and still i the best CAS aircraft bar none. As a former Paratrooper, it saddens me that the "fighter jockeys" who are running the USAF have needlessly put the lives of the current and future generations of Combat Soldiers with their decision to retire the A-10 without first fielding a suitable replacement. =(

About 40 years ago I saw two A10’s flying over a lake in Frysland, in the north of the Netherlands. Not knowing (then) what plane it was I contacted the airforcebase in Leeuwarden. Discribing the plane’s forms they told me I had witnessed one of the first flights of two warthogs from a German based American airforcebase. It appeared that “my” lake was a turning point in the route the pilots flew often and I have seen them flying here many more times…..

It’s not the loss of the aircraft’s capabilities as such although obviously it should be retained. It is the loss of knowledge and expertise that will be the detriment in future wars. Very unique aircraft. No 2-seat version so the pilot's first flight is solo. No relief tube, so cross country (or ocean) flights require a diaper. No weight-on-wheels (WOW) switch, so the pickle button is always hot.

This is impressive. While I was not a, military pilot, myself. Never really a pilot. Except in my early teenage years. Flying a piper Cherokee 140, with my dad. And so... I know something about this A-10. Something as intimate as this pilot. Though I never flew on, exactly. No. I had the opportunity. To fly the Northrop Grumman, A-10, military simulator. Complete with force feedback. And let me tell you. This is not a fly by wire aircraft. You have to be fairly strong. To fly this aircraft. It's all hydraulic control. And you feel it. It's hard, tough. Not as easy to throw around as it might look. This gal is a beefy Pilot. To be able to fly the craft. Highly flew the military simulator. It didn't go anywhere. It sat on the ground. I'd love to take a ride in one. I think my flying days are over. I just turned 69. I got to drive that simulator out, over 23 years ago. When I was still kind of young. I loved the full on preflight check with the ground crew. That was awesome! We never get to see that. As, it's not boring. Talk about sleight-of-hand. He wiggles his hand. And the wing control surfaces move. Like he is conducting a symphony orchestra. It was a beautiful performance. Very impressive. Our beautiful US military. What a wonderful flight. I really enjoyed. Thank you. I was with you the whole time. What a thrill. RemyRAD
