AC balance is a great feature to have on a tig welder.
This video explains and shows hot to set ac balance on a primeweld tig 225x...a very affordable tig welding machine.
Some machines have the ac balance pre set at around 70% EN but I prefer to be able to adjust it for each job.

I haven’t had Pepper in my puddle since my college days. On a serious note, this is an exceptional video. Thanks for making it. I’m looking forward to this series. Your camera shots are incredibly useful to see what’s going on at the business end. Thanks!!

Thsnk you Jodi. I got myself an AC tig machine late last year after havibg played arpubd woth a scratch start to learn the basics. Managed to get some passable welds after just an hour of playing around with it and referring back to your videos to see what i needed to adjust. Built myself a what i consider a pretty decent custom designed luminium bait board for my boat. I still dip the tungston pretty often but every now and then i lay an almost perfect stack of dimes and i think yeah, this is cool. Thanks man

I thought it was a detergent commercial you acted in, after hearing so many "clean", "cleaning" and "cleaning action" 😁. If anyone who did not have any clue that clean surface had the utmost importance in aluminum welding watched this, now they know it by heart.

This is an outstanding instructional video with real time issues that you captured very nicely. I've been a certified Aeronautical/ Aerospace welder since 1996. With other various welding certifications I received all certs while in the US Navy and through AWS. I've had some good instructors and some not so good instructors and sir you are definitely on the top half of the best instructors I've experienced! Wish they would have had those clear cup in my earlier days. In the aviation section of the Navy you have to be recertified to to all positions in each metal group your original certification specifies each year. I just happened to come across you KZbin site and decided to watch, glad I did. Will look at few more of your videos.

Dude thank you sooo much I weld on a ton of dirty and cast aluminum and it’s a nightmare but I guess patience is key this has improved my welds drastically. I always thought I wasn’t cleaning it good enough and it can still be the case but sometimes it’s just not possible thanks for the tips

I just wanna thank you for the knowledge you’ve put out over the years I was fortunate to learn the basics of most welding processes at a tech center in HS but now as a professional I’ve been wanting to further my craft but don’t have the time for college and I’ve watched your videos multiple times and now after 7 years of being a fabricator I get asked from time to time where I went to college for welding and my response is always KZbin university with professor Jody 👊🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤣

Hey Jody. Thank you for all the tips over the years that have helped me feed my family. I have had fun with a certain AC balance at work lately, on a syncro 250. Welding mass produced parts just as fast as i can with the balance on 0 (most cleaning) and flooring it without any material prep. My poor 1/8 tungsten had like a 3/16" ball on it 😂 I burnt up 2 #9 torches before they got me a #20 lol. Got it done but don't recommend

A #9 torch with a 1/8" tungsten on a 250A machine. My fingers got warm reading that, LOL. I use 1/8" on a #17 and it still gets fairly warm on thick castings.

@InchFab

@@botsbass842i use a ck20 on a 325amp machine and I wear tig gloves, maybe a tig finger sometimes. I can blast at 300+ as long as I want without any discomfort. Water coolers are like 250 bucks on amazon, another 250 for the torch and leads, and your torch will never get hot. Your productivity will go WAY UP!

I was filming a friend weld some 4130 recently and he is a very good Tig welder. While editing the video, I saw him shaking quite a bit but the weld looked great. But he just used a slightly longer arc and stayed the course and it worked out.

WHat am I doing wrone if my filler metal melts before it gets to the puddle.
@russelllowe
@russelllowe 7 ай бұрын
If you're talking aluminium then a few things might help ... hole the filler a little further away from the puddle, then get it in there quick and away again (hanging around too close preheats it too much), larger filler diameter will help, torch angle more upright so the heat is focused towards the puddle more than the filler, and I back the torch/tungsten away from the leading edge of the puddle when dipping the filler ... so, I move the tungsten forward to advance the puddle, then back a little and dip the filler, get the filler out of the way (aluminium doesn't need to be in the argon flow as much as steel does) and repeat. Hope this helps.

I've seen it mentioned before that running too little cleaning action also tends to increase the graininess of the bead when using 4043 filler. I haven't yet played around with balance with that in mind to know for sure. Have you ever noticed that?

could be. that graininess is fickle
