Friend of mine back from the college days loved AC4 and always pestered me to play it. I was pretty big on AC but after Revelations I completely lost interest. We were very good friends, we used to go to cons and similarly geek-themed events to just hang out and look at all the cool shit, but we gradually fell out of touch with each other, especially with him moving to a very distant town with little internet access. I was upset, but eventually just realized that's life. Fast forward 7 years later, I finally decide to play AC4, heard this song, looked up the lyrics. Broke down in tears. I wish I had played this back when he used to tell me to, at least we would have had another fun thing to bond over.

We chatted a bit and caught up, mentioned AC4 and he said "Took you long enough" hahaha. Unfortunately he seemed to want to be left alone, and I've changed a lot since college, as well, so I won't push it. He wants to be alone, I'll leave him alone. It's not like we hate each other, people just change I guess. Glad I could talk to him again, tho. If I ever manage to scrounge up enough money for a car, I'll ask if he's okay with me driving up there to visit him.

Finally, a faithful version of this song. All the other versions I can find are slow, contemplative ballad-types. It's supposed to be a drinking song, for God's sake!

Like seriously, everyone sings these old drinking songs and sea shanties like they are whimpy and always depressed. These songs were sung by a bunch of drunken tough dudes. Not saying these songs can’t be sung with emotion, this song is emotional in its own right, but at least make it sound like whoever is singing it is trying to cope with his true thoughts and reality with a drink and upbeat attitude like how the song was often sung historically.

@@funnelvortex7722 I give you, Lowlands Away, and Bones In the Ocean
@sandstar1023 жыл бұрын
@@funnelvortex7722 Ah yes, Leaver Her Johnny, a drinking song. Nah, a lot of times the shanties were used to keep pace while working. Working to a beat keeps everyone moving smoothly and a lot of the time the songs were used for that. However ballad type sad songs were certainly common, and probably just sung when bored. Now with A Health to the Company, you're probably right, but there are plenty of traditional shanties that were always sung as slow ballads. That, and these songs change a lot over time. Where I live in New England we have songs that have been handed down through the generations that came from English and French sailors that are entirely different from the same songs that are sung in England today. No two recountings of the ballads are the same. For instance, the song Three Score and Ten was originally about a storm that happened somewhere off the coast of England, but the version of the song I heard growing up was about a logging accident.

this made me cry.... “ we may or may never all be here again”... it’s not about the places you go with the treasure you take..... it’s about the Allies and the friends you make along the way, those everlasting bonds
@darthmalagus8 ай бұрын
The song sums up the point of Edwards story very well. While attempting to provide himself and his wife with a better life he becomes obsessed with finding a treasure he thinks will grant him that better life. Only after he loses almost every friend he made along the way and finding out the treasure he was after is something no one should have does he realize that the people who care about him are the real treasure in his life. But its not for nothing...without going through this sad realization he wouldve most likely abandoned his daughter to go on another treasure hunt. Instead he became the father he needed to be.

The local renfaire has an AMAZING pub sing at the end of every day, and this is the song they finish with. The feeling of family and community is amazing, nearly everyone is drunk and in garb, most dressed as pirates (in serious garb, not a walmart costume, I am talking $1500-5000 worth of custom stuff). Its one of the greatest experiences you will have. The last pub sing of the season, people are in tears during this song.

I don't know if it's intentional or not, but this version of the song feels really somber. Like this is everybody's last drink together before a war or some kind of event where most of them really won't be able to meet there again.

this game all though it is an assassin's creed game it ironically has very little to do with assassin's at all in fact you don't actually become an assassin until the very last mission in the game even then you never actually see Edward perform any other missions in the series afterwards he just end's up getting killed by a Templar in London a few short years later the only thing worth mentioning is that the dlc Freedom Cry shows how Adewale became an assassin and how he came into contact with Achilles and how the ship parts of the jackdaw show up in other assassin's creed games.

A fitting song to round out the year. Take care of yourselves out there, guys. Remember tears, remember laughter, remember triumph, remember defeat, remember the living, and remember the fallen. Celebrate life, which is short and precious, and celebrate the time that you have with those you care about, as some on this night are not as fortunate as others. Pour one out for those we have lost along the way, may they never be forgotten. "Let us drink and be merry, All grief to refrain, For we may or might never All meet here again..."

It hurts my soul, it cuts deep, straight through my heart, it brings tears streaming down my face, it reminds me of what will never be again. All the friendships, all the time together, taken away by adult life and responsibilities. Only memories remain. Whenever I listen to this song all I wish I could do is get on a ship, invite my friends over, all of them and set sail and sail around the world, just like that. Obviously, I will never own a ship or will be able to persuade my friends to drop their responsibilities and sail with me, but at least I wish that when I die, I'll live this dream over and over again...

Mate, I am so sorry. I know that feeling, and I know the blinding pain that stops everything in your life for such a time that every second feels like eternity, and you just want to die so you'll be spared the pain. I know what that's like, and I am so sorry that you have felt it too. But I have good news. In the nearly 6 months since my Monkey died, I have learned something that has kept me alive every day: This dark moment shall pass, and one day, you will be all the stronger for it happening. I hope that helps you as it did me.

love this song, Sean Dagher's voice is outstanding and the chorus ties in wonderfully. Thanks for also uploading a clip of the game in the background, I may just give it a try as long my 960gtx can handle the graphics :) ........here's a health to you me lads!

Just beat the game on my switch. And wow. This game really had an incredible story and definitely worthy of playing all over again. A sad tale that will forever burn in my heart and the words "and we may or might never all be here again ". Was perfect when you saw all of his past friends at the table.

marinamarshmellow he died later in life. In 1735, he was killed by mercenaries in the employ of Templar Grand Master Reginald Birch. They invaded his house and while fighting them one of them stabbed him in the chest😢

Even as a sailor song, this is extremely sad. Literally singing about enjoying a company of friends for the sake of not knowing whether this is the last 😥
