A tip for future reference. Put your bearing in the freezer for a bit, the metal will contract and it'll go in alot easier if not straight in, then when it warms back up it'll expand.

Damn I wish I would of thought about that. Almost put the som bitch in the oven to try it that way lol. Thank you for the tip!

@@killrspeed00 Thanks I'm about to try this, i have no other option the magnet coil seems the exact size i can't get it in the compressor only the old goes in still.
@tragedyturnedtriumph41804 жыл бұрын
Wow it actually worked, it wasn't as easy as putting the old one but eventually started to fit. & i used the old coil magnet to press it it.

@@tragedyturnedtriumph4180 I'm glad to hear it. I think I have to do mine again. Ended up seizing it to the compressor again. Might just do an ac delete this time.

When installing the clutch was it a tight fit? I have bought two clutches both are for 2015 which look just like the one you took apart. Installing the new one is not easy to push on. I'm not sure if it's the paint in the spline causing it to be hard or if it's the wrong one. Thanks for the video
@killrspeed003 жыл бұрын
Yes it was hard to get the new one on. I actually took it off and installed it again just too see if I did it wrong. It worked great for like a year then it seized up again. I think my compressor shaft is messed up. When I get around to it I'm going to just install a new compressor and call it a day.

Good video brother... I just got a remanufactured rebuilt clutch. The coil was stuck to the pulley. I took a dead blow plastic hammer and gave it a good wrap and the pulley let loose. When they rebuilt the unit they painted the coil and the inside of the pulley and assembled the two parts while the paint was still tacky causing the two parts sticking together. It now spins freely although I am going to take some sand paper to cut down some of the paint. Hope this helps your viewers out.
@MrCowboyvic4 жыл бұрын
Update.. I used a green scotch brite pad to scuff the paint on the coil and I used acetone on the inside surface on the pulley to remove the coat of paint.. Afterwards i put a light spray on wax coating on the inside of pully. It spins freely. Like this dude sais if you don't put the coil on square and it is off s little bit the pulley will bind up with the coil. The space between the two is very close..

How is the bearing holding up?
@killrspeed004 жыл бұрын
Its was doing good until father's day weekend I was doing some pulls with the ac on max and messed something up. I haven't looked at it yet but seems to of seized the bearing up. It could also be an issue with the compressor shaft itself.

how the hell do you break loose the bolt from the old clutch when it's still on I've played hell trying to get the bolt off can't do it with it free spinning. i tried wedging a screw driver in there a hammer in there and a c clap around clutch and copressor nothing seams to work
@killrspeed002 жыл бұрын
I do remember it being a pain. I think I was able to break it loose by tapping it pretty hard with a hammer to loosen it after spraying it with some pb blaster a couple times over a couple days if I'm not mistaken. It's been a while though. Best of luck and I don't recall the gap size off the top of my head.

Never heard of a rubber mallet 🤦🏽♂️ jesus
@robertbabich1154 Жыл бұрын
In this case a rubber mallet would not have imparted the impact necessary to drive the coil onto the boss of the compressor, since he had a limited swing due to the fact, he was doing the job with the compressor in the car. His choice of a steel hammer and his technique was correct (light sharp blows) I am a mechanic with over 40 years of experience, and I also made a video on this very same job and also installed the electromagnetic coil with a hammer, except I used a 3 Lb maul. By using the side of a 3 Lb maul you achieve a maximum swing in a limited space also since the side of the maul has a greater surface area you distribute the blow over a greater area of the edge of the steel housing of the coil minimizing the possibility of deforming the edge. And finally, by using a 3 Lb maul as opposed to a 1 Lb claw hammer you achieve the required driving force with substantially less impact, which is gentler and kinder to the edges of the steel coil housing.
