'Back in black' by AC/DC was released in 1980. The album is one of the top 5 selling albums of all time - 25 million copies in the US alone, 50 million copies sold worldwide... The album was a tribute to late AC/DC singer Bon Scott, who died unexpectedly in early 1980 after a night of heavy drinking... Brian Johnson (vocals) from the UK band Geordie was hired soon after and co-wrote and recorded 'Back in black'. More AC/DC classics - 'You shook me all night long' ... 'Who made who' ... 'Highway to Hell'... 'For those about to rock'... 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap'... 'Whole lotta Rosie' ... 'Rock n roll train' ... 'Moneytalks'... BRIEF HISTORY OF AC/DC: Formed in Sydney, Australia by Scottish immigrant brothers Angus Young (lead guitar) and Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar) as a local rock band in 1973, Angus Young assumed the role of the band's mascot performing onstage in a schoolboy uniform... It was the addition of another Scottish immigrant Bon Scott (vocals) in 1974 that made AC/DC a stellar band and they debuted 2 hit records in Australia in 1975 ('High voltage' and 'T.N.T.') w/ Mark Evans (bass) and Phil Rudd (drums) joining in early '75... George Young (Angus & Malcolm's older brother) produced their early records w/ Harry Vanda (George Young's former bandmate in the 60's band The Easybeats) AC/DC were signed internationally in 1976 and toured the UK for the first time... UK native Cliff Williams (bass) replaced Mark Evans in 1977 as AC/DC toured N. America for the first time after establishing themselves in the UK and Europe... By 1979, AC/DC's 6th album 'Highway to Hell' became their first gold selling record as the band built a solid reputation as a live hard rock band. Tragedy struck AC/DC in early 1980 when their singer Bon Scott was found dead after passing out from drinking in a friend's car - he had apparently choked after throwing up... A devastated AC/DC was unsure if they would continue but Bon Scott's parents gave their blessing to carry on... Returning to the UK, they picked former Geordie vocalist Brian Johnson and dedicated their 7th album 'Back in black' to the memory of Bon Scott... It became their biggest record as AC/DC became a global phenomenon. However, subsequent AC/DC records in the 1980's did not fare as well commercially as the band was accused of making the same record repeatedly (Malcolm Young said that they were not good at anything else but making "good, tough rock n' roll music") ...Drummer Phil Rudd was fired in 1983 but would return to AC/DC in 1995. Persistence paid off for AC/DC by 1990 when the single 'Thunderstruck' became a top 10 single and the album "The Razor's Edge" sold 6x platinum in the US alone. AC/DC toured less frequently afterwards, releasing 3 more studio albums ('Ballbreaker' in 1995... 'Stiff upper lip' in 2000... and 'Black ice' in 2008) and toured successfully as their catalog sold 200 million records worldwide. In 2013, rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young announced his retirement, citing a dementia diagnosis... Sadly, Malcolm Young passed away in 2017 at age 64... Angus and Malcolm's nephew Stevie Young joined AC/DC on rhythm guitar in 2013. Between 2014 and 2016, AC/DC went through more upheavals... Longtime drummer Phil Rudd was arrested in New Zealand and had to replaced on tour... vocalist Brian Johnson suffered from hearing loss and had to be replaced on the 2016 tour by Guns N' Roses singer W. Axl Rose... and finally, longtime bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement. After Malcolm Young passed away, Rudd, Johnson and Williams did return to the studio to record the AC/DC album 'Power up' (released in 2020) in Malcolm's memory... AC/DC did one US show in 2023 w/ Cliff Williams on bass and Brian Johnson on vocals... Matt Laug (drums) did the show and subsequent AC/DC tours. In 2024, AC/DC toured Europe w/ Chris Chaney (bass) & Matt Laug (drums) and have announced a 2025 US tour.

I remember the first time I heard this song. Just moved to Vancouver, BC. in 1984. In my very first apartment with the radio on. This song blew my mind. It felt dirty, dangerous, EVIL! It sounded scary! I loved it! Without my parents around I felt I was breaking the rules listening to AC/DC! I bought two of their albums and just kept playing them. Listening with headphones while jogging in a new city. Then my dad stayed with me. We were always fighting. Instead of drinking or a punching bag, I played AC/DC everytime I had a fight with dad. AC/DC helped me through the hardest times and I still love them. AC/DC inspired three young sisters in Mexico, ages 9, 12 and 14 years old. They did a rough cover of Back in Black in 2014. These sisters are now rock stars, and have performed in front of 50,000 as The Warning. AC/DC continue to inspire the next generation.

Your enthusiasm is always amazing when you know your listening to a great band who really know how to rock the house down and just to say the lead singer is from Newcastle in the UK and Angus the lead guitar player and his Brother malcolm who sadly passed. came from Scotland originally but went to Australia to live back in the early 70s I believe. As always this lady always does a great job in presenting her show for sure

Great reaction! You need to check out these guys with original vocalist Bon Scott. Highly recommend reacting to live performances rather than official videos. I'll recommend "Let There Be Rock" Live at Apollo 1978 to make you ponder which singer you like better lol and it's totally ok to love them both equally! Keep rocking!

Angus Young( lead guitarist) has been my favorite guitar player ever since. This WHOLE album is just Raw Rock, in its purest form. So have tons of fun playing anything by them. My 2 favorites are “Ride on”, and "Down Payment Blues”. That huge smile says you’re gonna have fun finding your favorites!! ⭐️🎸🌹

As soon as the video loaded you looked at the bass player and went ‘ooh he’s sexy’ Believe it or not that’s exactly why they hired him 😂 His name is Cliff Williams, he was brought on because the band wanted a bass player who could provide better backup vocals then their at the time bassist (Mark Evans) - basically just be a better singer and better bass player. The fact he was good looking was the cherry on top of the icing on the cake, because they wanted to sell more female tickets and get more women into the band.

You need to do AC/DC with original lead singer Bon Scott. Try Highway to Hell, TNT, and It's A Long Way To The Top. Brian was a good replacement, but Bon Scott will always be AC/DC for me. I prefer his voice, and he was a much better frontman, IMO. RIP Bon Scott.
