Yeah, purists piss on about that era. I LOVED Flick Of The Switch. I bought it ftom my local record shop (,showing my age now. I'm 59. Or so I'm told....) when I was nearly dying from measles and had to leave work at lunch time. Getting juiced on beers and stolen Hennesy cognac at 0642 on a Tuesday morn in Ozstraya. I don't believe in getting old.

Among the general public, yes. Among AC/DC fans, no. Most dedicated fans hail the album for that raw, straight-off-the-board sound as well as the punchy singles and strong vocals. It's a fantastic album, and most of the hate it gets is only because it differed so much from Back In Black despite releasing only 3 years later. It's honestly my favorite album, but it took me a few listens before I appreciated it enough for it to take that spot.

And he was never "Wright" for the band. Phil Rudd is the only man who should ever drum for AC/DC. He just needed a time out before he completely went off of the deep end. His drug and alcohol use, Bons death, plus constantly touring and making records caused him to basically have a nervous breakdown. He had already been struggling with nerves before Bon died, but it got worse after his death. Phil has got what most drummers don't have: swing in his playing, impeccable timing, and he plays just a bit behind the beat. I'd say the only guys that have that same swing in their playing are Charlie Watts, Ringo Starr, and occasionally, John Bonham (but not all the time). Simon Wright doesn't have that swing the band needs and neither did Chris Slade. Phil is what makes it rock AND roll. A lot of bands can rock, but there's no roll to it.

This was during a rehearsal prior to a show, and Brian's voice in the beginning was just him messing around, likely mocking someone in the production team.

@@JokersWild70 Okay, but my point is that he's not going overboard in rehearsals to conserve his throat. 6 days is still close enough to the next show that he'd want to rest his voice anyway. Tours are incredibly hard on vocalists like Brian, especially given his voice was changing around that timeframe and he had to work even harder every show.
