There's a reason why these guys are Australia's most successful Rock band. The song has nothing to do with Hell or the Devil. It was written by Bon Scott and it was about the long hours of driving in Australia in blazing heat when they started to tour early on in their career and being in this little van all of them and their instruments. It was so hot that it felt like driving down an highway to Hell.

Don’t forget that the original of this song was done by Bon Scott and this is Brian Johnson performing live. Also, it makes me giggle when you say that you’re Christian and your mom would not like this. I grew up the same way. Went to Catholic school for 12 years from first grade to my senior year. I would blast AC/DC from my room and my parents would always talk about “that devil music“ and how I’d’go to hell’ for listening. my parents were also very big football fans. Somehow their music tastes would change when the very familiar bells would toll, signaling the beginning of AC/DC’s “Hells Bells“ that most stadiums started to incorporate during the games to gin up the crowds. They sure didn’t care that it was “devil’s music“ then! Lol.
