Brian didn't make them popular; he just helped keep them popular after Bon died, and in fact was able to help them continue to rise in popularity. They were, however, already very popular before he came into the picture; just watch them in Oakland in '79.

Had this donington ‘91 dvd as a kid and it’s the only thing I played for about 4 years straight. From about the ages of 4 to about 7 or 8 it’s all I listened to. Grew my hair out as a 6 year old just wanting to be like angus and Malcom young. I’m 24 now, still have my hair and this entire performance has never sounded better. Absolutely killer band, and honestly their studio recordings have nothing on this live performance. A masterclass in rock and roll. If I had one wish in life it would probably be to have been able to be there to witness this live. Sending love from California ✌🏽
