On this song and Soul Stripper it is actually Malcolm who is playing lead guitar! Can't wait for Back in Black album review!!!
@Peanut317882 жыл бұрын
He played lead guitar on "show business" as well. He also played lead guitar on "little lover", and the two you mentioned. It's pretty cool though and not many people know it.

Let's be more specific. The Soul Stripper solo is a duel between Malcolm and Angus, with Mal starting, then the two trade back and forth. You can hear the distinctions in guitar tones and pick attacks. Mal has a distant sounding mic placement that creates a fast reverb, and the trumpety midrange of the Gretsch is apparent. The lead intro and middle guitar solo on Show Business at 2:30 is Malcolm. The other solos are Angus.

Bud, I’ve been a fan since 83. I am 51 now. Your analysis of one of favourite obscure songs by my favourite band almost brought a tear to my eye. I shared this reaction video with all my friends. What you see in AC/DC is exactly that I saw in them as kid and more do as an adult. A truly excellent reaction video.

One of their most underrated songs, imo. I never understood why they didn't put this song on the internationally released album but exclusively on the Australian High Voltage album.

This track is from the original 1st AC/DC album 'High voltage' album in Australia... Angus & Malcolm Young (guitars), Bon Scott (vocals), George Young (bass) & Tony Currenti (drums). Except for 'Jailbreak' (Phil Rudd on drums & Mark Evans on bass) which was from the original 3rd AC/DC album 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap'... the rest of the songs are from the 'High voltage' album. AC/DC had 2 albums in Australia in 1975 - 'High voltage' and 'T.N.T.' and when they were signed internationally, their label Atlantic took tracks from both records and released the international version of 'High voltage' (most of the songs were from 'T.N.T.') After Bon Scott passed away, Atlantic released the UK version of 'Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap' in the US in 1981... and then this '74 Jailbreak' EP in 1984 to capitalize on AC/DC's success.

Was this on any album released in America? I have never heard this!! I’ve been a fan since high school and I’m 57 now. I thought I had every album and therefore every song. Heck, my license plate is acdc!

@@mikecoughlin4128 AC/DC had a few songs that were not released in America, but they did release the '74 Jailbreak' EP in 1984... & a boxed set 'Bonfire' in 1997 (which contained a lot of unreleased studio and live tracks by Bon Scott) and the "Back tracks" boxed set from 2009 which included rare tracks and live disc.

BIZ keep the Bon Scott journey going and run down the "Fraternity" and "Valentines" rabbit holes 🤘😁 a MUCH different side of Bon. It's like AC/DC let Bon out of his cage 🤣🤣🤣

Malcolm solo, as confirmed in the big AC/DC book. Also on this album are the following gems of Malcolm leads: The "Soul Stripper" solo is a duel between Malcolm and Angus, with Mal starting, then the two trade back and forth. You can hear the distinctions in guitar tones and pick attacks. Mal has a distant sounding mic placement that creates a fast reverb, and the trumpety midrange of the Gretsch is apparent. The lead intro and middle guitar solo on "Show Business" at 2:30 is Malcolm. The other solos are Angus. One easy way to tell who is playing is that Malcolm's pick attack has a "clicky" sound. It's obvious he plays a lot with the side of his pick. Toss on some good headphones and have a listen to the ones you know are Malcolm. Definitely becomes obvious once you know.
