Thanks for making this series of videos. Was able to diagnose and fix my issue over 2 days. My issue was not getting low voltage from blower board out to the condenser. Wound up checking for continuity on the two wires in use and was getting bad readings. Swapped out another pair in the same jacket tested for continuity and 24v. Hooked everything back up and sent power. Contactor engaged right away and I have AC again! Thanks again, if anyone is watching these videos please remember to be safe. If you are not comfortable hire someone. Playing with a lot of power working on an AC condenser unit, NO JOKE!

Joe Pah All the time. That's because of lazy mechanics not using electric tape properly around the wire nut.

But *why* does the temp gun give an incredibly low reading when pointed at the vent?

If there is 24v at the thermostat and not at the contactor then it’s a matter of following the low voltage wires from the contactor to the thermostat looking for a break in the wire, correct?

What if you don't have voltage from c, and y at the furnace control board? Does that mean I have a bad board?

i am interested in temp. guns and wondered if the southwire you use is better than others or if you have it as a matter of company issue? if there is a real good but inexpensive one please advise. thank you.....g
@MoreThanMaintenance5 жыл бұрын
Temp guns only give the surface temperature and does not give you the temperature of the moving air. Example... if I point my temp gun in the vent it is giving me the temperature not of the moving air but of the actual duct itself. The K type thermocouple however is more accurate in giving you the temperature of the air flowing through the vents. Both are useful in the field. Both are fairly reasonably priced. The temp gun about $50 and the wire or k type thermocouple about $20. Hope that helps and thank you for the question!

no, actually i am familiar with the operation as you described. my query was southwire as opposed to other brands. which is preferred, better, cheaper, etc......g
@cavemanjoe79722 жыл бұрын
@@remushaynes2693 Southwire, general, lots of decent temp guns out there. As long as you're not using one made for body temps, it'll be alright.

It appears that the filter was installed upside down. The arrow was aiming down and, I believe, should be aiming up. May not be significant, though.
