Truly. No one saw the potential of this game's parkour and stealth at release because it was buried under layers of bugs. Even an experienced player with thousands of hours under their belt still doesnt have this games parkour entirely under control, simply because its far too inconsistent, the parkour is buggy and messy.

It could have been improved in AC: Mirage if they took this game's finished parkour system and tried building upon it, making it more consistent with player intent and adding more tricks and maneuvers, i havent played mirage but from public opinion it seems they built another similar parkour system from the ground up again

Unity had different types of swords, rifles with bayonets, big swords, axes, maces. A wide variety to choose from. Mirage has a sword, that's about it, and it somehow has less takedown animations than the amount there was for single weapon type in Unity. Mirage took the "back to roots" and executes it in an EXTREMELY disappointing way.

Arno was honestly the most dangerous Assassin ever. He's just so smooth and creative with his assassinations. Look at that high profile environmental assassination where he pushed the big guy against the cart and stabbed him. Whereas in rpg trash the enemy's head would have clipped through wall from that running assassination

I absolutely loved the multiplayer aspect of the game, honestly. I’m currently going back through Black Flag. These old Assassin’s Creed games really were (and still are) the better games, over what came after. They destroyed the franchise when they turned them into Witcher wannabes. They had an identity (ba-dum-chh 🥁), a uniqueness to them and they sacrificed all that, just so they could try and compete with something that feels out of place in the AC universe.

These are the kind of videos I watch whenever I end up getting more and more gaslit by everyone else into thinking that I'm supposed to like what happened to Assassin's Creed when it jumped the shark and turned into a bloated, grindfest RPG with little to no actual assassin-esque things being in focus. I've had to argue with RPG AC apologists multiple times why I, as a long-time Assassin's Creed fan, think that, in spite of its issues (at launch especially), Unity was where AC peaked when it comes to delivering what I've always wanted to see in the AC franchise. If only Ubisoft decided to set this as the foundation moving forward to build upon and polish. Nope. That's not what we got. For me, Assassin's Creed should focus on what it takes to be an assassin. It's in the fricking title in the first place. It's why I have so much respect for the HITMAN franchise even tho I didn't agree with all of the changes done to the World of Assassination titles. It took into account the very name and core audience. What do true HITMAN fans want? And that's the same kind of question that Ubisoft refuses to truly answer. Sure, Mirage is a step back somehow, but it's definitely missing so much from what used to be one of my favorite gaming franchises to ever exist. I've said it in many comments I've done before, and I'll say it, again... it's sad how a game like Ghost of Tsushima can be a better AC game in literally one outing... while the formula for AC was always there if only those in the positions of authority and power actually decided to dedicate time and effort into pushing that essence forward instead of dropping it for the sake of pushing the Witcher-at-home version we ended up getting more and more.

skill issue, yes, developer skills. the animation team and level designers worked hard, but the people who were supposed to code the movement failed. there is clearly a way to make everything look smooth but the player has to manually do it, rather than code restricting bs moves, or it looks straight out of a cartoon.

For all of its issues and problems, you can’t say that the parkour wasn’t good in AC Unity. When you actually got good with it, it transitioned so smoothly and you could combine so many aspects together. Visually, it was a stunning game, too and the time period and environment was actually a great setting. Potentially, it could’ve been one of the best Assassin’s Creeds in the series.. It’s just a shame it was marred by bugs and sometimes game-breaking/crashing and glitches.
