AC Valhalla's In-Game Store is a Joke

The post launch content for Valhalla has been abysmal, but the worst of all has to be the game's many packs that are releasing as a part of the Helix Store. Recently, two packs have been leaked and I must say, Ubisoft has hit a new low. They've decided to re-release items from previous AC games at full price, items that many of you may have purchased before. Please, don't encourage these practices by buying these packs, they are not worth the money at all.

How can you make a positive review based on that and come across as genuine? You know that people get paid to promote games, regardless whether or not they’re actually good, right? Ashraf’s while infidelity did have an effect, least of which on the integrity of his work and those who not only defended his lies, but his actions. He was the center-of-attention and, unlike AC creator Patrice Desiléts, was fired for something actually reasonable and that information is also publicly available with no one completely unwilling to discuss it. Saying that Ashraf’s personal life didn’t have an impact on the new AC series is like saying Tom Cruise’s career was unaffected when he jumped on Oprah’s couch.

Damn. You obviously didn’t play the same game I did with AC Valhalla & Origins. Games that both scored 9s and 10s. Sure, they’re not formulaic to the “Assassins Creed” brand. It doesn’t feel like Ezio anymore by a long shot. But to compare them to mobile games? You must’ve never even got out of Norway. It’s the best game I’ve played since Red Dead 2, and it’s not like Rockstar are angel publishers either. But it’s undoubtedly a great game. Just because you disagree with business practices doesn’t give a reason to take a dump on a great narrative/gameplay experience that writers, programmers, artists, etc. poured blood, sweat and tears into. They still have way more heart and soul than Activision, CDPR, or Bethesda anymore.

Bro they aren't going to remake the same game for the eigth time like there is already 7 games that you could play if you are so scared of change. Like origins they put a lot of time (the acting was amazing, thr combat was incredible, and the story was probably one of the best so far.) @@elixier2035 I’m not talking about only paid reviewers, go to any video covering the game, or online store where the game is sold, & the reviews are overwhelmingly on the positive side. Only sprinkled negative. To compare Valhalla to Anthem is an absolute joke. And as Derek said above so perfectly, if AC had kept the same formula as the Ezio trilogy or Connor’s story or Unity, you all would still be complaining about the game “not being different enough.” Whereas now, it’s “too different”. Nothing is good enough for people already predisposed toward negativity & seeing the worst in something. I’m not here to say Valhalla is perfect. But compared to near everything else that’s come out in the last year? It’s sweeping the floor of most competition. If there’s no bold moves or changes or risks involved, what’s the point of making anything at all? At least the devs for AC dared to try something different for this past trilogy. Unlike Activision reskinning the 27th Call of Duty in a row, or Epic Games putting out more PTW content on Fortnite, or Bethesda rehashing it’s same engine since 2007.

If I work hard for my own money & enjoy a game that gives me escape, I don’t see why people feel a need to criticize/control what I chose to spend it on. Even still, you’re not wrong, after Brotherhood it went downhill. Even Revelations and III are only good for Ezio’s, Clay’s and Desmond’s arcs in Revelations and the completion of Desmond’s arc in III. After that, Ubisoft literally lost the plot. Unity is still the only title since III that actually tried to be an Assassin’s Creed game again.

@The Second Son’s Black Flag is a pirate game, not an Assassin’s Creed game. The game was centered exclusively around the naval combat taken from AC III with the Assassin’s Creed IP tacked on to make money off of it. They could have taken the naval combat mechanics and implemented them into another game just like how Ashraf could have made the wannabe-Witcher III he wanted and made a brand new IP. They didn’t do that because, “why make a whole new IP and risk not being able to make money off of it”. Have you seen Black Flag’s story? You can play AC, II, Brotherhood, Revelations, and III without missing anything of value by skipping any of the games to come out since; including Liberation and the side-scrollers China, India, and Russia. Like I said in my main comment, Assassin’s Creed Died With Desmond.

Odyssey had more than double the ingame armors, and it had pause menu accessible cost-free transmog. Odyssey also has amazing side content which contains the elimination levels from Tenchu, the piracy from Black Flag, the customization down to gauntlets pants and armor from Unity and the recruitment from Brotherhood and the choices from Way of the Samurai. Yes, Valhalla has more micro-transaction armor than base game armor, I have cleared the map of England and Norway... but by the time they finish the DLC I bet there will be more micro-transaction content than base game there as well. I really hate this about Ubisoft as well...

I just play the main game and use whatever weapons or armor is in it. I've never even entertained the thought of giving them more money than the base game price unless it had to do with more AC specific lore.

Ubisoft is losing touch in alot of there games AC Unity was the last true game that made sense for the lore. Even WD has lost it's way the first game was the best in the series while the 2nd and Legion were designed to cater to younger audience's that don't care about real stories

I was so excited when Ubisoft announced this game saying they were going to make it authentic as possible... I knew deep down it was too good to be true. This game is a hot mess but I keep going back to it because theres not too many Viking open world games out there.

The problem I have with the Isu Knight Pack is that it's a helix store item. It would fit so much better as something you could find after completing every Animus Anomaly, you get the cutscene + the coörds to that armor set, cause it doesn't make sense to have an armor set of such an important piece of the AC Universe in a store.

It's not just this one either. The new ISU Knight pack that's coming out next week is a reskin of their own set on the helix store, the Niflheim pack. Nobody has seemed to notice, but it's literally just the exact same set with a different helmet. And they get away with it because people buy it

Great video. This kind of garbage needs adressing. Just to add, the new packs are even lazier than you describe. They are actually reskins of armour already in the game. The Isu net is a modified niflheim set, and the abstergo set is another reskin of the Thegn set with some copy/pasted gear pieces from Odyssey. The way people are just able to eat this stuff up is crazy. It's insane how Ubisoft just get free passes from everyone, even other developers for this kind of shit. It seems that everyone's even forgot all about the sexual malpractice last year and just given them a pass there too.

Another reason why so many people love the modern technology looking outfits could be because the game takes takes place in a world with regular looking human NPCs, so the fancy new Isu armor looks so much cooler and simply just stands out so much. However, if we look at Destiny 2 or Halo, those games take place in worlds where EVERYTHING is futuristic high tech stuff, and that means that the outfits and gear might suddently not stand out at all!

In origins you had to work to find all the trophies to get into the sphynx and get the mysterious isu outfit that looked old and outdated yet had a sci-fi look to it, it felt like finding and ancient forgotten armour. In Valhalla you pay for a set that doesn't even have a reason in lore and doesn't fit the world.

Seriously cashgrab antics kills the soul of games plus that IPs playerbase will dwindle and ultimately evaporate. Ubi devs speak up against those corporate manipulation of an art form. Be good to your playerbase show love for the game and the rest will come. Fix your bugs make more armor to find in game with its own arc and puxzles.. thats immersion. These packs are gacha plain and simple, the lootboxes for single player. At almost a new games price or half of that.

When I got this game I was super excited to play I played it for months I still do from here to there but when I realize they were re skinning armour and weapons I was kind of disappointed because of some of the new armour and weapons looks really cool like the knight of the round table armour that looks great but I’m kind of sad how the game turned out in the end

The isu and abstergo sets will follow the same style design because abstergo will always be a part of assassin's creed and we see them as these futuristic soliders the isu will look cybernetic because they are meant to be a more advanced people so those skins will follow a guide to fit with the style

As someone from the collectathon Jak and Daxter / Ratchet and Clank generation I cant play these games anymore. I feel a sick feeling in my stomach if I try to play and I look at the ingame store knowing I don't have 100% everything. Knowing I have to pay to own all the armors or weapons in a full price game for me is a massive turn off and why syndicate was the last assassins creed game I bought not on a extremely cheap steam sale. I have been playing AC since AC1 on the 360 the week it released. I miss AC so much.

@@sanjonn Paying for the full game and still not getting everything is pretty much a crime in all other business. Imagine if you pay for a Burger and when they give it to you, it's just the bread? You would need to pay more to the meat, cheese and salad. This is pretty much greed, at the same time there's a lot of game companies (specially indies) which have all the add-on content for free, or at least the add-ons really is worth the price (like The Witcher 3 DLCs). If we could compare it to burgers, it would be like this: You pay for the burger, and get fries and soda for free.

Valhalla could’ve been one of the best in the series. The Viking age was a setting that we needed to explore but Ubisoft absolutely screwed this one up. The copy - and - paste method that Ubisoft keeps using is a joke. This was the game that was supposed to redeem itself... parkour and combat was a huge downgrade and the combat was something that was supposed to be great especially since we’re playing as a Viking. I miss when these games felt realistic.

Tbh over the past couple of months I've completed ac origins, I finally decided to give it a go and I absolutely enjoyed it which then made me change my views on Valhalla and not gonna lie I did enjoy Valhalla but it just felt repetitive with taking over regions and now I've decided to try ac odyssey and tbh I think it is good but it would've been better of it didn't fall under the ac franchise as I'm sorry but ac odyssey is in no way an assassin's creed game. Let's hope they don't eff up this Ac Warriors or whatever they change the name too

Why not take it one step further and not buy the game during the release window, wait till the game is a third or a quarter of its starting price. Once you’ve paid basically full price for a game ubisoft is happy and your option after that point means nothing. Mass Effect Andromedia, Cyberpunk, the recent AC games have and had major issues in various forms. The only valid repose to games like these is to wait to buy them. That’s the real test of convictions, is how long to choose to wait to buy these games. And it’s the only thing these publishers will actually take notice of....money not opinion.

The goth armor also.. that's literally Sauron copied from lord of the rings. One thing that I'm proud of is how I have not wasted a single coin on that helix store, yet got the full Oni pack, Goth pack and some parts of other packs due to visiting Reda often and owning Amazon prime. Entire weapon bundles such as the vampire set, all bought through Reda, A whole Set for my boat, together with a shield and sword. Sum it all up and I think I've gotten over 90€ worth of game items for free. Thanks to playing it with patience

Dude they literally already have re-skinned like 4 or 5 armor sets in the helix store already. The isu armour is a re-skin of the niflheim set and the mystic set and black raven set ar just re-skins of the hidden ones outfit and einherjar armor Edit: Also like 2 wolf mounts the elk mounts and at least a dozen raven skins
