@TheTwtwo3 жыл бұрын
@sort of guy? no, when you let go of the trigger on DC brushed tools the connection to the motor is shorted, the shorting causes the tool the motor to act as a generator stopping the motor, and the spinning inertia mass of the motor, creates a spike of voltage and current which causes the arc. arcing while the motor is running is indicitive of overspeed, and a shifted magnetic center, and the timing to the brushes and commutation is off. Large brushed ac motors have interpoles, that fight against the shift in magnetic center, and larger DC motors, and some high performance small motors will have a mechanical adjustment to advance and retard the timing of the brushes.
@gasolinediesel9723 жыл бұрын
@Nothing Dc brushed motors typically don't last all that long, but they can if you treat them properly and maintain them. Any motor is going to heat up when you're running it, especially with a load on it.
@gasolinediesel9723 жыл бұрын
@Nothing Dude these motors heat up very fast. They usually will get to about 170-180 degrees, then they stay at that temp until the battery is dead.

Connecting DC Motor to AC PSU will make it vibrate. DC motors change their spin direction depending on polarity. Since AC has no polarity (it is more like + and - switching places 60 times a second) motor just starts to vibrate.
@jercos3 жыл бұрын
A "universal" motor uses a second set of windings, instead of stator magnets. The inversion of current in AC inverts the field in both coils, and the motor continues to spin in the same direction. The use of universal motors in many AC tools in turn also allows them to be safely run on DC.
@staideysstudio46373 жыл бұрын
@@jercos yeah I'm aware of that. I was talking about the DC motor tho.
@jercos3 жыл бұрын
@@staideysstudio4637 cool, I wasn't sure, but my main point is that's the sort of motor that would have made this video a useful comparison. You could just as well compare "AC vs. DC" by trying to power a transformer. Yes, when you give it the wrong current, it heats up and dies. ;p

The thing that's so cool about destruction by overvolting is the mechanism by which it works. The propulsion medium, the election charge, actually grows to such an extent that it within an instant effectively circumvents multiple hunks of its path. I imagine a relay racer growing in sprinting potential as she runs, and then, suddenly, she passes a certain threshold, and is instantaneously teleported multiple acres away, completely destroying the competition, and breaching the rule domain. Not briefly speeding up, but actually appearing in an entirely different place in the course, defeating the purpose of her team. It's so absurd to think about. It makes me wonder if we will discover more of these electromagnetic effects with quantum particles in the near future. It's not that I enjoy destroying things, but boy is it fun destroying things.

Anyway ortodoxal science sucks to not accept the possibilies that such things can't exist.

Love overpowering motors... I accidentally hit the sweep spot with an old RC car that someone had thrown away because of a lost battery pack. I had a broken airsoft rifle that had a battery I affixed to the car with a quick disconnect. This thing was crazy fast being overpowered. I could never find the exact model but it had a flip feature as the one of the axles could could be controlled by it's own motor. Once you get used to it; you could make it "jump" and do tricks. I was doing kickflips and treflips with it down stairs and over gaps. Someone eventually stole it from my porch but left the remote. 😑
