With your new box, a battery disconnect would be a great addition ! Happy holidays

@@SoluSolaire Great idea. My server rack cabinet has a main disconnect. In the video, I turned off all the batteries when I could have flipped that switch

You're alive! 😁 Hope y'all had a great Christmas! Nice job on getting it all wired up. Looks like it should give you a lot of flexibility (no pun intended) with powering just the garage or the house as well. Looking forward to someone putting this thing through it's paces!

After crunching the numbers, a DIY solar system for my house has an ROI of 4.7 years. I have room for a big ground array. Since whole house nuclear is not available, I'm going this way. 🙂

Fantastic video! Do you have a metering agreement with Power Co? If not interested to see if any power does get pushed back passed the CTs
@Roll2Videos5 күн бұрын
@@cgutowski471 I do not have an agreement. So far, no power has gone to the grid. I have a separate whole home monitor that I'm watching.
@cgutowski4715 күн бұрын
@@Roll2Videos Thanks for the fast reply. Really interested in seeing of the PoCo can see anything going back to them when large loads stop. Hope that minimal grid draw helps. Does your separate home evergy monitor show negative values if anything is being pushed back to grid? Again, great video, keep it up!
@Roll2Videos5 күн бұрын
@cgutowski471 Yes, it does show a negative. I have seen it pick up a quick negative number after a large load shuts down. Hopefully, they think it's a motor winding down. I'll make a video if they say anything to me.
@Roll2Videos5 күн бұрын
@cgutowski471 I have heard that the meter at my house isn't bi-directional and picks up positive or negative power as power is used. Therefore, if I were to send power to the grid, they would charge me as if it were power used. That makes sense; all the homes I see with panels on the roof have separate meters for the outbound power.

So, at 27:00 you highlight a 200A discharge limit, can flex boss provide 200 Amps? I've been trying to figure this out, because according to the documentation it looks like maximum is 50A PV + Battery, and 90A with grid. Thanks for the videos!

@@DougVandenBergvideos Yes, It can. Don't forget to factor in the energy loss when converting power from AC to DC

It says battery type Lead Acid, those server rack battery's are LifePo4
@Roll2Videos4 күн бұрын
@@mikesimms2250 Yes, they are LiFePO4, but I'd need a communication cable connected to pick that option. My batteries are from different brands and use different protocols to communicate, so it's impossible to use the LiFePO4 type. So, I use voltage under lead acid.

Nice add on, What happened when the power grid goes off? Do you still feed the house or just the garage?

what is the cable you use to wire from the panel-grid to the EG4? I ask because of the color code being red-black-blue, with a ground, if that is NMB cable my understanding is that it is only rated for 55amp? I think you need to use 6ga thhn inside of conduit rated for 75c for a 65 amp rating? Great video :) Love the way you wired the battery rack, nice and clean.

@@Roll2Videos Yep just discovered that, I use ALU SEC "service entrance cables" then convert back to copper in a breaker panel, then wire to my victron/eg4 invertors. Huge savings going that route, but always looking for copper alternatives.
