These videos are great. thank you for making them. your description of autocad "vanilla" as a 'jack of all trades, master of none' finally let me get my head around the different versions/"flavors" of autodesk products. Some terms I will be using for a long time. Thanks again

Thank you for all your videos. They are some of the most informative, concise, easy to follow and understand videos about this subject. Likewise, your method of teaching is very admirable; you maintain a friendly, knowledgeable demeanor, while not being overwhelmingly quick paced. You've shown me things that my instructions at school sort of glazed over or skipped entirely - for whatever reasons - and these helped me out tremendously in understanding AutoCAD Architecture. Sounds like you figured it out. For anyone else who read this, it was probably the display configuration button at the lower right. "Normal" mode is "Medium Detail" but changing that can override the appearance of AEC objects.

Jeremy, I have ACA 2013 and at the moment I am totally confused. It does not matter what I do to get rid of the grey solid fill in any of the brick and stud wall combinations, the entire wall is shaded. I have tried turning the solid hatch off in the wall styles area to no avail. Any ideas what is going on or am I missing something? Thanks.

Thanks again very helpful. I am in Jamaica can i change the wall style to show concrete blocks with steel bars on centre in plan view.
@jeremyfranklin26318 жыл бұрын
No, walls are not intended to show individual assembled elements in that way. It is not possible to make them graphically legible at a typical 1/8"=1' scale, but I assume you might be using larger scales. Regardless, the wall tools are not what you would want to use for this. There may be add-on tools that could assist with it, if you don't want to lay them out manually. Note that dynamic blocks could also be a good smart way to draw this.

How would you change the color of the wall lines to go by layer in plan view? thanks,
@jeremyfranklin26313 жыл бұрын
if you want to control by material, then the middle portion of the video, around 10:10, shows how to edit the material properties - you'll notice there is a layer tab that I didn't click on. If you are controlling display properties without material, then i show toward the end of the video around 14:45 or so

How do I get my wall shrinkwrap to be only on one side of the wall?
@jeremytf77Ай бұрын
the purpose of shrinkwrap is to cover all sides. Sounds like you may not need to use shrinkwrap - use the display properties or materials to edit the sides separately. Or use end caps if you mean wall ends.

I cant see the new wall style I made in my design tool pallete?
@jeremyfranklin26319 жыл бұрын
+Jason Burge Having custom wall styles in your drawing and having custom wall tools on the tool palette are two different things. One does not necessarily trigger the other. You can draw a custom wall style by starting ANY wall tool and then picking your style from the properties palette and then drawing with it. Or you can make a custom wall tool to link to your style by copy/pasting an existing tool on the palette (use right-click menu) and then editing the new tool's properties (right-click on it, properties).
