I'd like to say that I'm seeing more and more PhD grads going directly into scientific roles in industry without a postdoc. Mostly US citizens though, because it takes a while for us internationals to work on that green card.

I have been seeing this as well, though it is still harder to do when you’re competing for a position against someone with a few years of postdoc experience.
