My main ones who should have won for Best Director are Robert Mulligan for To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Luchino Visconti for The Leopard (1963), Stanley Kubrick for Dr. Strangelove (1964), Sidney Lumet for Network (1976), Ron Howard for Apollo 13 and Ang Lee for Sense and Sensibility (Both 1995, tie)
