@@Agarwaen I liked seeing Thor, & he was entertaining, however, they cheapened him as a *GOD!!!* because Captain Marvel was to be buffed as a character of strength. Scarlett Witch is understandable (Although, I have my grievances there too), but when has Captain Marvel ever outshined Thor in the comics? They just threw that out of nowhere. It pisses me off because the first image Thor is seen to be doing is fighting a celestial, *capable of destroying 1/5th of the universe.* Throughout the history of Marvel, Thor has progressively gotten cheaper as time went by. It's not as though Thor couldn't have extreme thought pieces, honing in an incredible sense of humor simultaneously; there's so many examples in different outlets (Music, Manga/Comic Books, TV, Anime, ect.) that have done this already. (Naruto, Spider-man, Eminem, SYFY's Happy, Seven Deadly Sins, ect.) I totally agree about Chris Hemsworth. He made it look so effortless going from incredibly poignant to outrageously ridiculous. The scene that always gets to me is the one where he’s pleading with Tony that he should be the one to wear the gauntlet. Another one is when he tells his mom that he’s totally from the future. Lol. Just a very well-rounded committed performance

Haziqzaq's statement is exactly why I said this earlier: RDJ's acting when he returns to earth (his rant and bitterness towards Steve Rogers) is outstanding. If they can give a nomination to Gloria Stuart for Titanic, they can give at least a nomination to RDJ. There should be nominations for best pic, director, actor, actress (I felt the first 3rd SarJo was amazing). But who are we kidding: they're getting shit. Like Logan, it's just another "mindless comic book movie". This movie honestly just isn't that great, it had some decent shock value the first viewing but repeated viewings of this movie are just dull and boring. P.S. No shame for me in torrenting a movie after seeing it once, theaters are literally raping the wallets of customers for no reason other than greed. No reason for me to pay 9 dollars for a large popcorn that they make for literally 10 cents or less, movie tickets at 13 dollars, when they charge 20 dollars for a fucking water and a popcorn. And if I have to be honest the plot was pretty lame(time travel who didn't think of that). It does deserve a nomination for Visual Effects, Production Design and Sound Mixing/Editing but nothing more than that. Even Thanos in this movie was like any other bad dude in any other superhero movie. Thanos in Infinity War was established as a bad dude in the perfect way, a bad dude who actually had a motive and was not fighting the heroes because of a personal grudge or some crap like that.

I could see Robert Downey Jr. getting a leading actor nomination and Chris Hemsworth getting a supporting actor nomination. RDJ did super heavy-lifting on this film, especially those domestic scenes with his daughter that provided legitimate pathos and stakes to the whole film, and Chris Hemsworth had so many tones to play at once that he feels equivalent to Kevin Kline’s performance in A Fish Called Wanda. Hemsworth is super underrated for what he’s doing in this movie, it’s insane. From the scene of him decapitating Thanos with his poisonous delivery of “I went for the head” to him being an emotionally-distant and even hollow drunken wreck at his cabin to him having that panic attack and getting emotionally feeble on Asgard to him trying desperately and impotently to get the gauntlet on and prove to himself that he can have the glory of undoing his worst mistake in the Avengers Headquarters, he goes through the whole barrage. He’s funny when he needs to be and legitimately haunting and unsettling early on. It’s genuinely REALLY good and it’s the kind of performance that often gets slept on. Comedy is hard. Comedy with that level of underlying pathos and simultaneously eliciting guilt from the audience for laughing is ridiculous.

@@KinoTipp Visual effects, adapted screenplay, best picture (Grossed 1.2 billion on opening weekend), Best actor/supporting actor (RDJ), and best Director. Why? Because it had the most well done CGI spectacle ever committed to film, a narrative crossing 22 other films adapted from the comics, this film smashed records from critics and at the box office. Robert Downey Jr killed every scene he was in, absolutely superb acting, the amount of emotion he's put into that character is unrivaled. Such a good story and it deserves to be recognized as a work of art, it wasn;t just some mindless entertainment. It had emotion, an extreme amount of complexity, and it will probably never happened again.

Many have said that Lord of the Rings: Return of the King won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2003 to honor the monumental achievement made by the LOTR trilogy as a whole. I think that Endgame should win that distinction because it was the perfect way to end an even more monumental series of 22 MCU films. At least honor and recognize it for that.

I'm honestly so proud of what they did to Thor in endgame, anyone that was outraged by it completes misses the point of what was done, the complete breakdown of a character that lost everything that can at the same time be incredibly emotional and funny, humanizing him so much, making him feel like such a more real character. And the fact that he's hilarious only adds to it, he's not being ridicularized, the humour in it gives it so much heart and lightness to a problem/situation that SO MANY people can relate with, and to quote mark twain, "humour is tragedy + time" and with all the tragedy that Thor has endured, the time that went by and the fact that we can both relate to it and at the same time see the comedy gold in his situation is proof of how amazingly well written and acted that character was in endgame. Both Chris and RDJ easily deserve a nomination this year, and honestly if the academy doesn't distinguish endgame has a major achievment in film making, then let's face it, their credibility just goes down even more, even if we forget the massive numbers the movie is making, it's just such an achievment to have an ending to so many movies, so many characters, threads, plotlines, that involves SO GOD DAMN MANY incredibly professionals, not just the absurd amount of incredible, distinguished actors in this,but also the writers, producers, editors, artists, etc etc, what they have pulled with this movie should be put into museums, should be taught at film schools, the heart, the quality, the sincerity and sobriety of it all, completing a world in such a way that makes it feel so possible, so realistic, with such range of emotions... The movie was an emotinal masterpeice. Never got this emotinal for in a comicbook movie since Logan. I don't think it needs an Oscar for it to be what it was for me, and frankly for many people but if it gets major Oscar love then awsome! What the Russos and Christopher Markus and Stephen Mcfeely crafted was a roller coaster of emotions. Also the performances were masterful, especially from RDJ (loved him 3000), Chris Evans (such a poetic and emotinal arc and performance) ScarJo (amazing! Easily her best MCU performance) Chris Hemsworth (killed it) and Mark Ruffalo and Karen Gillain were also excellent. These are the categories I think it should be nominated for not for all of them but atleast one of them or some of them: 1. Lead Actor: RDJ 2. Original Score 3. Visual Effects 4. Sound mixing 5. Sound Editing

In some respects, Return of the King won the academy award for Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy... I think you could make the argument that Avengers: End Game is the end of a ten year story, a monumental achievement in connective storytelling that may never be duplicated, and a worthy Oscar contender as a representative of the MCU as a whole... What they've managed to pull off is kind of the cinematic equivalent of landing a quadruple axel... Incredibly flashy, but also nigh impossible...
