I'm sure if it wasn't for Rosamund Pike this film wouldn't turn out so good. She is a such brilliant actress. And she was so perfect for the role. I can't imagine anyone else playing Amy better than her.

@@Dank951 My only issue with Reese as Amy was her voice. I'm fine with her voice and she's a terrific actress for sure but her squeaky cute voice would be distracting for Amy's narration. Pike's voice was more haunting which makes her perfect for the role

The odds are on her side. She's been receiving rave reviews for her performance in 'Still Alice' with many calling it the best performance of her 30 year long career. Don't forget Moore is also a four-time Oscar nominee. She's definitely the superior here. Don't get me wrong tho., Rosamund Pike's performance deserves recognition and I'd be incredibly happy if she won - that performance was SICK! I just think Julianne Moore has a bigger chance.

Iconic characters that is as close to Heath's Joker..
@oscarwilde5408
@oscarwilde5408 4 жыл бұрын
Not close. Better. Her character is a lot more complex; her ambition, her reasoning, her absolute self discipline and control... Psychologically speaking, she's so much more intriguing. But all this is neglected because the Joker is popular with a predominantly male audience, hence immediately elevated to a degree SHE'S far more deserving of.

@saifmohamed9592
@saifmohamed9592 3 жыл бұрын
@@oscarwilde5408 How did this turn to a "predominantly male audience" thing? There is a ton of reasons to prefer any of them as a character. One point is that Joker's drive and reasoning is relatively more clear and abstract, as opposed to the subtle and personal psychological side of Amy, but preference based on only that does not determine who's better, because each one fitted both the role of the characters in each movie and the layered complexity of them in general, not to mention that in the audience' eyes Joker's one of the most famous comic villains of all time compared to a girl in a movie with extremely smaller number of people who actually saw it, hence it's logical that he's by far more popular, same would go with any female character that popular. My silly guess would be that Amy appeals to people who prefer portrayals of human drama and the emotional side of psychos, while Joker appeals to people looking for the cerebral, philosophic side of psychos. Great job to both Pyke and Ledger.

buffery333 That's a pretty good take on the subject, although I can sympathise with Winduct's annoyance of there being a modicum of self indulgence in much of what they say. But then, that's the nature of being an actor and, of course of being famous. it's bound to make them self conscious and keen to sound intelligent. Not that Pike is not intelligent; far from it.

Some people sympathize with or relate with Amy. I thought she was a malevolent psychopath who needed to be taken out and that's how the director intended to portray her. I didn't love Nick as a character but the film portrayed him as more of a bumbling victim who's irresponsible rather than malevolent, which makes him more deserving of sympathy by comparison. I'll have to read the book because I heard that it portrays a darker side to Nick that wasn't fully brought out in the film, which would make more sense.
