I'm very surprised how academy has improved their instruction manuals, looks very detailed and easy to follow, unlike their old manuals...

I‘ve build 2 of the modern academy kits in the past ~3 years and they are very nice. Easy to understand instructions, good balance between details and parts count and no major fit issues. I would recommend these new kits for beginners also. And if one likes to, you can upgrade as far your imagination goes👍🏼

The captured American version is based on a historical vehicle... there are several pictures of it online.

Many German vehicles arrived in North Afrika in dunklegrau. In Libya and Tunisia, many were sprayed in blotches with whatever Afrika Korps "tans" that were available. Green was also sprayed. In some case, vehicles were coated with a mud/water mixture and and was left to dry.
@efeyigit67663 жыл бұрын
I think they also used captured british paints.
@arnegreve10193 жыл бұрын
The Americans did the same with their vehicles. They camouflaged them with Mud and Water.

Great job Andy! I’ve saved Andy’s HHQ on my phones home screen so I can quickly feed my plastic addiction like some strange model ordering gunslinger 🤠 don’t be afraid to expand into Bandai’s land of Mecha. The design and way they go together is incredible! No glue required! Allegedly! 😉

Looks great. Like many people I've built the classic 1970s Tamiya Pzr II F/G w/ 5 DAK trooper figures for about $15 USD. Thought it was extremely good for the value and other than the stowage bins w/ jerry cans and the link and length tracks this kit doesn't seem miles ahead. Would like to see a side by side comparison actually.
@garthornspike36483 жыл бұрын
I would like to see a comparison also, especially since this kit is likely to cost between 50 to 55 bucks.

Exactly my thoughts too, and I have that Pz II right here so this is not just a reflection from memory. The rubber band tracks aren't the greatest though!

As you seem to be featuring North African campaign tanks, how about an Italian kit like the tamiya m13/40?
@johnludmon74193 жыл бұрын
I would like to see you build this kit academy are for me a mix of the good the bad and the ugly with their kits. I have never built one of their kits that doesn’t have some fit problems.

It is interesting. The US captured Panzer wasn´t used by the Americans in combat. Robert Capa shot a few photos of this Tank, but instead of the Academy-Kit, it had no weapons anymore.
@nepete73 жыл бұрын
Google “captured Pz II Tunisia”. One photo (color) shows soldiers removing the gun, two (B+W) show the vehicle being driven with the gun still in place. All have the U.S. star AND the German markings still in place.
@tomihaili87563 жыл бұрын
Those tracks look huge after building Pz. II´s in 1/72 scale. I´ve almost everything Germans built under Pz. II designation from Ausf. a to J. and the Marders and Ausf. F 'Flamingo'.

I think that Academy is following the colour keying that Rye Field has been using. The coloured parts represent the parts to be added during that step, while the parts that were already added have no colour. Also, it appears that Academy has been inspired by Rye Field's colouring of the places where glue needs to be put...in Academy's case, they use the colour red. 🤔 It looks like a nice kit. Certainly it will have more detail & sharply molded parts than the old Tamiya kits, plus many more options in terms of stowage & decal markings! 👍👍

Are you really unable to gauge the size of a model from the previews, unboxings, reviews and build videos?
