In Part 3 of our "Complete AMP1 Course," Thomas and Julian will guide you through the many ways to use AMP1 in different environments: at home, on stage, and in the studio.
Before diving into how to customize AMP1 to your personal needs, Thomas will demonstrate the differences between all four channels on AMP1 Mercury and Iridium, providing a quick sound summary.
AMP1 offers a plethora of options:
From a simple amp head replacement to a floor amp, AMP1 can be used from one to three channels without any external switches. It offers more options with additional standard footswitches and can be integrated into fully programmable guitar systems with effects. Designed as a scalable system, AMP1 can be tailored to meet your individual needs.
As a pedal amp, AMP1 is perfectly designed for pedalboards, sitting comfortably next to your favorite drive, boost, and overdrive pedals, as well as time-based pedals like chorus, delay, and reverb.
Some players prefer simplicity, while others need multiple sounds at the tip of a footswitch or even a full arsenal of sounds, possibly in a stereo system. All this and more is possible with AMP1!
Thomas and Julian will explain the different setup options and provide examples of popular configurations among the growing AMP1 user family. Thomas will also show you how to dial in tones for live use and achieve additional features like solo boost and automatic activation of effects in the effects loop.

1:09:00 oh shit, this FX loop switch on/off setting that can be saved in preset mode will be a game changer for me. I was no aware I can do it, was it even mentioned in the manual? Now I won't have to bother switching delay on/off when going through foot switch 2 and 3 for solo and back to rhytm anymore!

I use my Amp1 SE with the HX FX. Even the gainstructure can be set via MIDI and the FX are all good and it´s fairly easy to program!

My rig is coming along. I'm using the BluGuitar Mercury, a Torpedo Captor X, and a Morningstar MC8. My MC8 has CLEAN, VINTAGE, CLASSIC, BOOST (ON/OFF), TWIN (selects a Twin Cabinet), VIBROLUX (selects a Vibrolux cabinet), BANK UP AND BANK DOWN (for my Plethora X3). I set the Boost to control the mic level on the Torpedo Captor X cabinet. This boost works as a pure clean boost, so I retain my tone. I just leave the Boost on the BluGuitar on at all times because it's nice and saturated. Killer setup for basically every gig I play.

Sorry I missed this episode live! Please can you show us a couple of ways to run Mercury and Iridium with some kind of switcher on one pedal board, with only 1 speaker for live application?? Also same again, but 1 amp to front of house through blu box and 1 amp through a speaker? Can't wait for AmpX!

@Thomas and Julian: I have noticed that my OneControl with the AMP1 Mercury cannot save exactly the dailed in settings for 2nd Gain and 2nd Volume. Example: 2nd Gain 100% clockwise - save setting - recall setting: 2nd Gain is audibly lower - move 2nd Gain counterclockwise and set back to 100% clockwise: 2nd Gain is audibly higher - any idea? QUESTION @bluguitar: At ca. 1:22:18 thats the best clean sound i have ever heard from amp1. I see the master and channel v. are at around 6/7. Is the power soak almost included or does it work with full power at that moment? Thanks!

It’s the power amp on the edge break up! In standard mode it would be 100 Watts-> pretty loud with a speaker! If you go only direct (no speaker connected) no problem! With speaker: you can dial in 50 watts (on AMP1) or any watts-> perfect Volume with 1Control or Remote1 or MIDI1 and a Midi Controller

Hey Thomas und Julian, Wieder mal sehr anschaulich demonstriert hier alles. Ich habe mal eine Frage fürs nächste Mal: Ich benutze den Amp1 ME und ein Lin 6 HX Stomp und auch die 1Control. Für Program Changes könnte ich auch das HX Stomp programmieren, das geht noch. Aber für so Gain/Powersoak Änderungen „on the fly“ finde ich das zu kompliziert und nutze deshalb doch die 1Control. Zur Frage: Gibt es eine Möglichkeit den MIDI Out des HX Stomp so an die 1Control (FS-Eingang) anzuschließen, dass ich das HX Stomp quasi als angeschlossenen Doppelfussschalter nutzen kann? Es gab glaube ich von Nobels mal so MIDI/Klinke Geräte zum Umwandeln? Gruß Daniel

It's weird that people are struggling to get a tone they like out of an Amp1 - I have both Iridium and Mercury editions and think they have tremendous tones from all the channels. They take pedals into the front really well and the loop is great. They sound good at low volumes too. I'm gigging with them more and more as my awesome amp heads (Bogner, Matchless, CAA) don't suit a lot of venues now with volume restrictions.

Some people find their tones easily, others need help and inspiration… In the end: once they have found it, they all love amp1 and can’t stop playing it… ;-)

Hab gerade Academy of Tone #203 mit den Cabinets gesehen. Kann man das Nanocab mit dem Neodym Lautsprecher irgendwann vorbestellen oder gibt's da ne Liste wie beim AmpX? Könnte für Zuhause eine bessere Lösung sein, als meine 2x12 V30 Box.

one question: If you have a midi controller that can send out control changes via a connected expression pedal, would this allow me to have e.g. the gain control (or second master etc) on the expression pedal and quasi do continuous gain changes? Thanks for your videos! (no detailed explanation necessary, just wanted to know if it's possible in principle).

It works in principle. Depending on the total amount of gain, and the speed of the controller, there might be steps audible as click noises. You should test if that is acceptable for your application.

Was kann man machen wenn bei der Remote 1 die Taster klemmen und dann Rot blinken?

Man sollte die Taster reinigen, da einer wohl zu klemmen scheint. Dazu mit einem Messer oder einem Plastikhebewerzeug die Fußschalterringe nach oben anheben und entnehmen. Danach lassen die Fußschalter reinigen, und mit etwas Trockengleitsray bzw WD40 behandeln.

Ich spreche genau so gerne Deutsch, aber wir haben ca. 32% deutsche Zuschauer, 17% USA, 11% UK und dann noch viele Länder in der ganzen Welt. Da verstehen die meisten Musiker auch englisch… Daher ist es die beste Lösung…😊 P.s. die meisten Engländer sprechen auch nicht so gut deutsch wie die Deutschen englisch…😂

@@BluGuitar a As a Scottish person I totally agree. Trouble with UK I think for most of us we didn’t get to learn a secondary language until secondary (as in high) school which is way too late. I admire how well German people (as well as many Europeans) speak English and it’s a great shame we in UK can’t do same. They say it’s easier for Scots to learn German because we have similar sounds like way 8 is pronounced in Germany is similar to Scots word “ach”. Sadly my German I learnt in high school 30 years ago is poor although I can still count well in German and say hello as well as remembering richt and links for right & left.

Thomas ist ja mal bestens verständlich. Er spricht keinen Slang und grammatikalisch bewegt er sich auch sehr einfach verständlich. Und seine Argumentation in Bezug auf den Markt kann ich nur gut nachvollziehen.
