Best video to date on the Titanic build. Great for reference. Wouldn't expect anything less from a Michigander.

Is the Academy model 1/400 better than the one of Revell?
@historicalmodeler1483 Жыл бұрын
I would say the Academy model is better overall. There are a lot of reasons for making that argument, but some of the main ones for me are the windows are much more nicely molded on the Academy, and you have the option of using brass or plastic railings. On the Revell model, plastic railings are molded onto several parts, and it would require a lot of extra cutting and sanding to remove them if you wanted to use PE. The funnels also look a bit bizarre to my eye on the Revell. That said, the Academy model certainly has its issues, the most unfortunate one being the height of the B deck walls, which gives the model an inaccurate profile. No commercial kit of the Titanic is perfect, but as someone who has built both the Revell and Academy kits, I definitely think the Academy one has more potential in becoming a museum quality replica.

HI! What kind of brown did you use for the handrails and wall edge trim? For example at minute 3:10? Thank you!
@historicalmodeler14838 ай бұрын
Hello! I used testors/model master leather acrylic! I should warn you that this paint color is probably too dark and not historically accurate for those handrails.
@Interismomerdawjuve8 ай бұрын
@@historicalmodeler1483 are you sure? if you see jason king's models the browns are equally very dark
@historicalmodeler14838 ай бұрын
@@Interismomerdawjuve definitely true, and I based a lot of the colors here on his 1:100. However his more recent 1:72 model has a lighter color, and the digital renders by Vasilije Ristovic, which are generally considered the most historically accurate ever made, also have a lighter color.

Can you tell what size of anchor chain you have used for the forecastle of your RMS Titanic?

I used the one provided in the 1:350 Minicraft kit, so it’s a little oversized

Are the extras like the window frames etc 1/350 rather than 1/400? Are the scales close enough to get away with it? Nice job.
@historicalmodeler14833 жыл бұрын
All of the windows are 1:400 scale from either Tom’s Modelworks or the Flyhawk aftermarket kit, depending on which frames fit the model best on a given piece.

Where did you found 3 bladed central propeller?
@historicalmodeler14832 жыл бұрын
I made it out of the original center propellor from the kit. Three of the blades were cut off, then I repositioned and glued two of those blades to make the modified central propellor.
