Once upon a time when Tim was, maybe 11, he got his first sound recording program on our out-of-date computer. One of his first multi-track projects was to record the song "Barbara Ann" in adorable, pre-pubescent 4-part harmony. Tim used his sound program to flip the song backwards, then listened to it enough times that he learned to SING it backwards. It sounded so funny that it became sort of a party trick - "Tim, sing Barbara Ann backwards!" For some reason Tim found that annoying, and before long he had sworn off backwards singing and would snap if we so much as mentioned it. But you know, they say nothing you learn is wasted. #OriginStories

But I don't get it. Played backward, talking backward will always have some kind of small choking noise. You can hear it in "Hi musical scientist" said in the end. But it's not present in the song. How did he do that? No matter how you talk, you can't make air go backward.

This is absolutely incredible. It's not obvious at first, but recognize the sheer amount of work that went into making this video! He filmed the entire video not just once but 5+ times, each time completing the video in one shot. On top of that, he had to move his mouth in the "reverse" direction so it looked like he was singing the song when the video was reversed! Based on the outro, he must have learned how to speak backwards, a skill showcased recently on Smarter Every Day. Learning this skill takes months, maybe even years! Sir, I don't know how long it took you to produce this, but this is the most dedicated film making I have ever seen. Astonishing.

I actually had to go through all the nonsense of KZbin registration just to make this comment-however, I thought it was worth it. Like turning the pages of a riveting novel, I am intrigued by what you'll come up with next. This one is going to be hard to beat, LOL. And while I have purchased all your songs (except Eminemium), yes, you have finally motivated me to support you on Patreon; perhaps that is the true test of appreciation. Bravo, Tim. My evolution during this song: "Wow, sounds great." "And looks nice, I like the colours." "Wait, that was kinda funny." "Oh my god, it´s backwards, that´s the reason why he was so wet at the beginning!" "One moment, does this mean, he had to sing it backwards too?" I watch the making-of. "He really sang it backwards. WHAT?" (Okay, of cause someone could also only sing it backwards for the recording of the pictures and then sing it normal for the recording of the vocals but I suppose that wasn't the case.) I watch the video again. "Still sounds grat. Woah, there are some really low tunes." (Is "low" the right word? I'm no native speaker but you don't say deep for this, do you? "Low" sounds weird, too. Well, you know what I mean, I hope.) "How can it sound so great and clear in language if it was sung backwards???" "I wanna give more than one like..."

Once I watched the video, I could not believe what I was seeing -- I thought you did some sneaky cgi where you cut the top half of your body, which was going forward, with the bottom half, which was going backwards. Once I saw the behind the scenes video, and understood how much time went into singing this video backwards, was I truly amazed by the effort put into making such an amazing video. I apologize for not knowing your name, but I am truly impressed with this amazing video that you made. The thought of learning the song backwards just blows my mind, and I cannot believe that you made this video. Ok, awesome on so many levels! Level one.....great singing/harmony--nice full sound, good blend. Level two....that you chose one of the greatest Billy Joel songs. Level three.....the cool video effects with running everything backwards. Level four....the greatest miracle of all......you actually sang the words backwards in real time so it would look like you were singing in forward time when you ran the video back! (I didn't notice at first; about halfway through, I wondered how you were singing forward and going backward, and then I caught a word that was off. Then I noticed the finger snapping looked off.) +acapellascience oh please my high school physics teacher would absolutely love songs that the rest of my class understands... I don't mean to brag but I'm a lot more interested and therefore better at physics than my classmates, specifically physics, oh did I forget to mention I'm great at physics, oh I'm also great at physics aswell as physics and physics especially physics... I'm also doing chemistry and engineering but meh

Woah-oh Arrow of Entropic Time Woah Arrow of Entropic Time If you made a scrambled egg tonight There'd be no return to yolk and white And when it's fried you can't turn it back to raw food That is the arrow of Entropic Time Structure Decomposes till it's gone Hot spots cool and entropy grows on My room was cleaner Now looks like Godzilla's been there Not my fault Blame it on Entropic Time Woah Arrow of Entropic Time Woah Arrow of Entropic Time Stars Explode and leaves turn brown in fall That's Thermodynamic's second law But from a deep view That doesn't need to be true Time-symmetry precludes Entropic Time Maybe this won't last very long Our cosmos's light A fluctuation In that case it's probable we are A brain without a jar Decomposed in a moment Who knows if that's true And I'll be gone Thermalised Before you hear this song I'll take my chances Though I can't disprove these answers That there's a reason for entropic time One must go right back to the start The order from whence All things fell apart All life hinges On that state that was We hope to find it's cause But it's more than we know now Maybe ther's a Time-symmetric space Birthing Big-Bang's All across the place That then disperce as New baby Universes With there own direction of Entropic Time Woah arrow of Entropic Time Woah arrow of Entropic Time Woah arrow of Entropic Time Woah arrow of Entropic Time Woah arrow of Entropic Time

So, I knew of and watched your 1st accapella Science music video rolling in the Higgs, when it first came out, multiple times. Initially, the Bohemian Rhapsody parody was the only other one you had done. Tonite, a physicist friend posted a newer creation of yours and I am back now, just adoring your head SPACE and everything you've created over these bits of time as it's passed.. I could only wish someone like you was around when I was young. I would have fallen head over heels. Lol! You are adorable, and smart and so talented. And you are even more handsome than when you first started doing this. You make me smile from ear to ear. I LOVE YOUR CREATIVE MIND. I hope you get out of life all that you wish and that success is defined however you dream it to be. Keep doing what you are doing. You are amazeballs.

GENIUS!! As a musician I can appreciate the work it took to learn the lyrics backwards and arrange the song; as a video editor I can appreciate the creativity, the planning & execution; and as a visual learner I can simply appreciate the very creative method of explaining the concept. I rarely subscribe to YT channels, but you've got me hooked!
