Always love to listen to your travels. And your honesty. This was not a failure. It was a lesson learned. Remember that many people would not have the ability to go where you went. It's always interesting to hear about things from your perspective.

great video, most travel videos sugarcoat everything, which isn’t the reality of travelling. sometimes, you’re just not happy and that’s how it is. it’s good you were able to reflect on it and see what it meant to you.

Great video! I did this hike last year (in addition to other group hikes), and it is exactly that, a GROUP hike with little to no freedom or independence. The bigger the group, the worst it is in my opinion. I always prefer a small group to gain some level of freedom.

Agreed! Can’t wait to go back and do this hike with 2-3 people. It became another dream of mine

Diana, you are much too hard on yourself. The effects of altitude sickness can start at 8,000 feet, so if you reached 13,000 feet in a matter of hours carrying a backpack in the heat, you were very likely experiencing the symptoms of altitude sickness. You powered through it and very often the painful experiences in life tend to be the most memorable and growth promoting. Even in your altered state of consciousness some of the images you captured were amazing. Being that close to an active volcano spewing smoke and ash is outstanding. I think at some point in the future you will look back on this experience much more positively than today. Keep up the excellent work and try to stay a little closer to sea level for a while 😁

This resonates with me so much. I hiked acatanango may 19th, close to the end of my 7 month solo trip through south & central america. So so many people I had met hyped it up as their best experience while travelling. Yet when I was finally doing it, I felt this sense of regret and frustration about taking it on. Similarly to you, I had a very hard time getting up there, we had a group of 40 and I was always way at the back (which didnt bother me, just found it frustrating they always waited at the breakpoints to keep the groups together), I want to hike slowly, enjoying nature at my own pace. Although the guide that stayed with us was nice, I still felt a bit rushed. absolutely zero vision of fuego at night, only clouds. No lava to be seen, nor even any erruptions at any point. Didn't manage to get any sleep because it was so so so cold. During the hike to the top at 4am I felt super ill, but I pushed and pushed to be able to reach summit, only to cry upon arrival because I felt such a feeling of disappointment that I thought it wasn't worth it. Thinking back ofcourse I saw amazing scenery and it was definitely beautiful, but similar to you it's just not how I like to travel and experience these things. Definitely very different from the wholesome experience I had envisioned, lol. It's so cool to see how you went to so many of the same places as I did in these last videos! Your Mexico video actually played a big roll in inspiring me to take this big trip on. So Thank you so much for that

I love this video. I was planning on doing this hike someday and it sets good expectations. There are so many other videos out there of this hike that it certainly seems moderate enough. it was also a shame that you did not see the volcano erupt.

Why everyone's backpack looks so huge? Are they taking all their belongings up the mountain just for one night? Couldn't they have left the majority of the stuff back at the tour office?

Nice, but next time you should check that you have the right equipment like hiking tall shoes. Tall shoes prevent ash from going into them.

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video and loved also being in Guatemala and the hike sounds wild 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on KZbin. 😀
