If the committee didn't HAVE TO put in any other team who isn't in the SEC or BIG 10 they most definitely wouldn't. They want as many from those two conferences in as possible. Miami remains as high as they are because of television $$$. Everyone wants to see them lose with a Heisman candidate and the #1 offense in the nation. Plus, Miami is entertaining football this year. Jmo.

SMU’s only loss (BYU) was by 3 points, early in September. And that was before SMU had its QB and before BYU’s performance tailed off.

@goudie6275 As for SEC-ACC record. It is mostly irrelevant. Its top ACC teams like Clemson and FSU, playing at the time bottom tier SEC teams like South Carolina and Florida. Since both teams have to be willing to play each other, you aren't going to get too many extreme mismatches. And the only way to not get those mismatches, outside of prescheduled rivalry games, is by top ACC teams scheduling lower tiered SEC programs. Even then the mismatches happen, and then for example a team like Wake Forests exits out of their second scheduled game. Regardless, this year, the SEC was 7-3 vs the ACC

The real issue is consistency. Now, I have heard from multiple public speakers, no team should be punished if they lose the title conference game. Until you talk about the ACC and Big12. Because I can say with assurance that will not be true when it comes to the ACC or Big12.

I agree SMU is terribly disrespected. Comparing to ND schedule is interesting. They each handled Louisville FSU and Stanford equally imo. SMU vs Duke, Pitt, TCU, and BC seems about same imo as ND vs Navy Maryland GT and Virginia. ND has the best win vs TXAM 8-2 but the worst loss vs NIU 6-5. I consider ND win against Purdue as an inferior opponent. SMU wins against nevada 3-8 and houston christian are also inferior opponents. And SMU has respectable loss vs byu. So is TXAM so great that it negates ND loss to an inferior opponent? I gotta say I didn’t agree that SMU should be ranked above ND but after looking at it I think they should be. It’s close but I gotta agree. Still a couple chances for both teams to stumble but at this point based on record there is absolutely no way they should be ranked so differently (6 vs 13).

@@frostymug3123 As a PSU fan, I disagree. For most of the season, we've only had four teams ranked. And all 4 teams had 1 loss or fewer. Where is the B1G trying to pack 2 loss teams? And there's agreement that if Indiana gets embarrassed, that they're not certain to get in with one loss. And a 2 loss PSU is definitely not getting in. ESECPN, Josh Pate, and Finebaum attack the B1G as well except Oregon and OSU.

If they had SMU ranked right now.....They would have to allow BOTH SMU and MIAMI in CFP at the end of the day. Because at the end of the day if both teams are in top 10, they would BOTH be in. I don’t think teams should be eager to leave the conference bc of this bias, but rather fighting to change the bias. That means putting a good product on the field (I’m looking at you FSU) and finding ways to get rid of the corruption in the committee.

@ FSU 2020: 3-6 2021: 5-7 2024: 1-9 so far None of those would classify as “good to great” seasons. I’m not trying to disrespect FSU or anything but don’t pretend they have been a consistent powerhouse. They usually have potential but the actual results vary. Going nuclear on the conference and then turning around and putting up an absolutely atrocious season and being one of the worst teams in FBS is straight up toxic. None of the other conferences are going to want to take them on after that so it’s smarter to just shut up, play better football, and try to help the conference rather than hurt it.

Mike walked into a dumpster fire, having to start from scratch, trying to implement his style of offense using more tight end play. Mike also new he didn't have much time or he was going to be out of here too, he decided to dip into the portal for a posable quick turnaround and guess what, it worked 10-3 to 13-0 but not looking on the back end of recruiting and time to develop.Give the man the time they didn't offer Willie Taggart to work thing out. Speaking of a consistent power house. The Seminole brand will always be a power house, win or lose 13-0 or 0-13. This is a different era viewership is the driving force of who stays and who goes.I'm willing to bet you our viewership at 1-9 is still higher than the bottom half of any team of any conference in America. The fact that a team like SMU can come up from a Group of 5 conference and ran through their ACC schedule should tell you enough about how weak the conference is. This is the same SMU program who had to beg to be let in the ACC and was willing to be left out of the current revenue deal to do so. And they come right in and dominate the conference lol.

SMU barely beat Duke and Barely beat Nevada. STOP!! Their schedule is weak sauce. Notre Dame's loss to Northern Illinois is bad, but it was also a TRAP GAME.
