How dare you people talk shit about the mighty SEC SEC SEC, where 3/4 of that conference is in the top 25. Of course they have a “tougher” schedule based on ranking (because 3/4 of the conference starts in the top 25). Just stop rankings until week 6 to level things out. Of course that will never happen because of tv ratings.
@crispy_bagel693Күн бұрын
On the SEC being "overranked" topic... it's like a chicken and egg situation. Do they draw viewership cuz theyre good or are they perceived as good cuz of their viewership. I tend to side with the former. The preseason rankings aren't just pulled out of people's ass. They look at recruiting classes, returning starters, etc. I love SMU I'm an alum but we'd get destroyed by any of the top 6 teams in the SEC. Yall are being biased. SMU should've lost to Duke if were being honest. The ACC is just bad this year.

SMU HAS NOT BEATEN ANYONE!! They got Beat by a weak ranked team in BYU, but no ranked wins under their belt. You could say Louisville when they were ranked, but so did Notre Dame. SMU barely beat Duke and Barely beat Nevada. STOP!! Their schedule is weak sauce. Notre Dame's loss to Northern Illinois is bad, but it was also a TRAP GAME. ND came off a high intensity prime time game with Texas A&M and won and then had to go into a weak team like Northern Illinois and lost. Bama did the same thing after beating Georgia and then went into Vanderbilt and lost. So stop the Brain dead hating/stupidity.

I'm a Bama/SEC fan here. The problem with trying to compare SEC vs. ACC bias is at some point the ACC needs to schedule better OOC besides relying on Clemson and FSU. When those teams lose marquee games, it hurts your conference perception. Also, when was the last time the ACC had a Top 10 match up that didn't include Clemson or FSU in the conference?
@MichaelSmith-xb5cpКүн бұрын
GT lost by 8 points to UGA last year, GT is better this year, is UGA? I suppose we'll find out.. There's 4 SEC games left to go for ACC and most have nothing to lose except Clemson maybe, but I think they'll be treating South Carolina like a bowl game....ACC also plays ND many times....what's the best non ACC out of conference SEC played this year? USC and Michigan ?LoL😂 nope...It's ND
@MichaelSmith-xb5cpКүн бұрын
The last big top 5 win was probably Stanford over #3 Oregon, October 2nd, 2021. There are some retiring Seniors still on that team . Many key pieces like Stanford team captain and starting center Drake Nugent, went to play for Harbaugh, who then put undeserving Alabama in the trashcan where they belonged. Why was Oregon even #3 to begin with, you may wonder? They had already thrashed the Buckeyes in the Shoe In mid-September.
@waltershearlsКүн бұрын
@MichaelSmith-xb5cp In the last 5 years, LSU and Alabama have played at Texas in years, and they finished Top 10 prior to SEC. Auburn has played Top 10. Oregon also played Penn St. Georgia went to South Bend recently. Those are just a few. Now do the ACC....I didn't include any recent additions.

"SEC bias" is so stupid. Is everybody unable to recognize reality nowadays? Have the democrats really had such a detrimental affect on America? They refuse to use commmon sense, and you guys don't either? FACE IT. USE YOUR EYES AND COMMON SENSE! The SEC is a stronger conference, and if you can't admit it, then don't get mad when people with common sense laugh at you. What do you think would happen if Virginia and North Carolina joined the SEC? They would get better! They would become relevant in short order. If Mississippi State joined the ACC??? It would RUIN THEM, because they would lose any credibility. THAT'S why the ACC is troubled. You have lesser respect because you don't match up with the Power 2.
@MichaelSmith-xb5cp2 күн бұрын
If NC State loses to North Carolina, there is a REAL possibility that Stanford could finish ABOVE NC State in ACC standings for their inaugural season. How many would have predicted such an outcome??? Near universally, Stanford was predicted to finish 17th in preseason due to their freshman heavy roster. I'd like to petition that KENTO must sport a Stanford jersey if that eventuality be the case 😂

Thanks for the content. I have a slightly different take on why the ACC as a brand in Football gets a bad rap. It is television but for different reasons. There will not be one SEC game on National television that is not completely sold out at the stadium. Not one. The ACC cannot promise or rarely deliver, unless it is Clemson, Florida State, V. Tech and NC State and sometimes UNC, Pitt, G Tech. Some ACC teams do not have their own stadium, ACC schools public or private may not have a large local alumni base to go to the games, has older local alumni that may or may not go and are not known for loud packed atmospheres. It makes for a bad television product, which is the only way that these entertainment entities will recoup the money with ratings and ad buys which it pays to a conference for television rights. Therefore, the ACC should start to immediately follow the NFL model of stadium size and amenities. Stadiums with semi open or totally closed roofs would help. The ACC teams in football play in very hot and rainy weather in the fall and does not make a great stadium or television presentation and closed stadiums are louder which is an added benefit for the teams and television. I would also recommend an opt out of football for the private universities that may not want that type of investment to benefit all parties. Finally, I would have divisions but with a catch. The first three games of the season dictate which divisions you will be in. The only draw back being that you may not play enough teams in your division, but your ACC record still counts toward division leaders. Not perfect, but it fixes the issue of bad teams being buffed by bad schedules as they are less likely in the ACC title game, while adding more game by game accountability and less tie breaker issues over time. Not perfect but it would give media three things that they love. Great venues in which to enjoy a product, fuller louder stadiums and increased atmosphere, more races to follow and how impact changes weekly for the ACC as a whole and by divisions. Flexibility for member entities which increases buy in if the agencies want to participate makes revenue share equitable for schools who buy in with stadium investments. Fans win with more media recognition, better venues and races and rivalries that they can follow.

Regarding SEC Bias. The ACC is 2-5 this year vs SEC with 4 games to go. Until the ACC can win regularly against SEC schools, this is a silly conversation. If Miami goes on a run in the playoffs and wins 2 games against the best of the SEC, the conversation will shift to “Miami should be an SEC team”.
@MichaelSmith-xb5cp2 күн бұрын
ACC could be 6-5 vs SEC after final week of regular season, possibly even 7-5 if you include ND in the ACC family. It would take FSU to beat Florida, but if they lose, then it's 6-6. The rest are winnable upsets for ACC underdogs GT, CLEMSON, and Louisville

Follow up to my previous comment … they set up the rankings to kick miami out automatically if they lose to smu. Smu is not in the top 12. So if they get in, someone has to go out. They’re setting up the Acc championship game so that it’s an elimination game for the Acc despite their own claims it won’t be held against the loser. Call the lawyers!
@hunterbihn47042 күн бұрын
The cfp has clearly said they will not hold conference championship game losses against The teams who lose. So if that’s true. No conference champion teams should drop out based on the end of season rankings unless it’s by a surprise conference champion who supersedes them due to the first round byes We literally need lawyers for these rules
