For the question on material mix variance why did you divide 2000/20 = 100 x 12 for chemical b? Instead of 2000/25?

Hello Tenisse 😃 Thank you for your questions and I hope you found the video helpful! 😃 The reason why we divide by 20 is because the total standard input mix for both chemicals is 8+12=20 and we only want chemical b which represent 12, so hence multiply the answer by 12. We don't divide it by 25 as that relates to pricing, rather than quantity. I hope that should now answer your query and enjoy the new Section B video coming out soon! Hi James love the channel, this video was especially helpful yesterday when taking F5. I had a 20 mark section c question come up which involved comparing an income statement to the prior year and the numbers were in million with '$m' showing on the headings. In my answer do you think it matters that I used the same number format as the question? For example I put 4,500 instead of 4,500,000. I put '$m' under each of my headings. Thanks!

Great to hear it helped ahead of your exam! 😁 As Section C is marked by a person rather than a computer, from what you have described I hope you should be fine... try to be consistent for next time with the layout/approach of the question not to be misinterpreted. If the question used amounts such as $1,500,000, then you really should have put your answer as $4,500,000 I will be honest, but we shall see in the final mark! In the question it used '1,500' in the P&L to represent 15,000,000 and in my variance analysis I used their same format of say 1,500 instead of 15,000,000 but was worried I should have written the whole number. But on my headings I made it clear. Hopefully that would be okay.
