Peter St Onge has a view that gold's return to the monetary system could fix a lot of the problems we have with corruption in politics, out-of-control government deficits, wars being waged, and much more. Peter argues that the BRICS nations introducing a gold-backed currency for trade would be a big step in the right direction to setting humanity back on a path of sound money.

Silver’s industrial prospects will far exceed its monetary prospects in the future. Gold has been designated a tier one asset by the BIS. Pretty soon it will be the only tier one asset, as the dollar and treasuries melt like ice cubes.

@superstar5123 Yes, I watch the price every day. Ultimately, I hope to see silver near $100 by the end of the decade. Perhaps it doesn't get there in my investing lifespan. I'm willing to wait it out, but the last 8 years have challenged my conviction.

Not sure silver's "stock to flow ratio" is the burden Peter thinks it is. It isn't like flow is increasing. And I would be very interested to see at what rate stock is decreasing. For a few years now we have been in deficit. Another thing to keep in mind. Silver is considered a 'poor' store of value because it is large, per say every $1000 stored, compared to gold. But as it goes up in price that begins to work in its favor...
@023achilles
@023achilles 16 күн бұрын
OK so... He compares silver's 'stock to flow' to oil. I don't know if this was just an off the cuff reference, a moment of levity, or just trying to make Bitcoin look good. Total storage of crude oil is apparently something like 7.5 billion barrels. Lets double it to be safe. 15 billion barrels. Annual production of crude oil is in the ballpark of 34 BILLION BARRELS. That is a stock (15 billion) to flow (34 billion) of under 0.5. That means IF the storage space existed, it would only take half a year to DOUBLE existing oil, stored. But oil is notoriously difficult to store (because of how much space it takes up). Now for silver, the stock to flow is given at around 22. Can you see the difference between 0.5 and 22? A factor of 44. Gold's stock to flow is 70. Difference to silver is a factor of under 3.5. Long story short, the above ground supply of silver increased by about 3.2% a year. With oil, the issue is the large flow. With silver, it's a case of depleting stock. My last point would be in regards to price volatility of silver. How much of that is 'natural', exactly, and how much of it is induced by large financial institutions, who have tried 'questionable' methods to keep the price down?

Neil McCoy Ward did a mini-series on the great depression. He read from people's diaries and there absolutely was starvation. People died from malnutrition. It wasn't a common occurrence but the fact that it happened at all is shocking. When this guest said there was no starvation I lost confidence in everything else he said.

What land am I going to be able to grow food on? What farm equipment can I afford? What about pesticides and fertilizers, the soil is infertile. Not to mention the cost of water. Also, growing seasons are becoming shorter and shorter with the weather becoming more erratic and unpredictable. Growing your own food in any meaningful amount is impossible for the vast majority of people, i am confused as to the amount of people that seem to think everyone will be growing food. If anything, there will be less food grown while the population continues rising

Rain feed agriculture of agrarian cereal corps is characterised by relative low yields per acre, espically if you do not have sufficent nitrate prill & rock phosphates, or heavy Diesel engined tracked machinery if you doing heavy clay soils. Doing it the Amish way can't support even 25% of current numbers at current lifestyles. Industrial scaled agriculture with heavy industrial inputs is necessary or we all starve. 😊

Peter seems to be out of his mind. Gold has a real value of what? 20 to 30 Dollars? The Rest is Speculation? Man, this is pure nonsensical, as long as the average home price isn't at 5.000 Dollar. The price of Gold relates to the value of the currency use to buy it. In other word's- Gold has its intrinsic value. Gold doesn't care about Speculation. It is the ultimate Value and every currency relates to this Value - not the other way around. You have to think twice Peter. You are wrong!
