There have been a lot of complaints about the acceleration in the 2nd generation Tundra being overly sensitive. This results in a very jerky acceleration, particularly on a bumpy or uneven road.
Toyota attempted to remedy this by installing a metal shim in the original pedal assembly. If you got that “fix” you know that it was a marginal improvement, at best.
If you have a touchy or sensitive accelerator (gas pedal), this is what most people in the Tundra forums used to replace their original pedal assembly. It is Toyota part #: 04000-0440C. The Toyota list price is right at $40.
There was also some discussion about what part came in the box. The part that came in my box was Toyota part #: 78110-0C012. If you search for that part number online, you will see that the Toyota list price is around $200 for the same part.
I'd say this fixes 90% of the sensitivity. The truck still has a lot of acceleration so it can still feel jerky accelerating on bumpy roads.
