There have been a lot of complaints about the acceleration in the 2nd generation Tundra being overly sensitive. This results in a very jerky acceleration, particularly on a bumpy or uneven road.
Toyota attempted to remedy this by installing a metal shim in the original pedal assembly. If you got that “fix” you know that it was a marginal improvement, at best.
If you have a touchy or sensitive accelerator (gas pedal), this is what most people in the Tundra forums used to replace their original pedal assembly. It is Toyota part #: 04000-0440C. The Toyota list price is right at $40.
There was also some discussion about what part came in the box. The part that came in my box was Toyota part #: 78110-0C012. If you search for that part number online, you will see that the Toyota list price is around $200 for the same part.
I'd say this fixes 90% of the sensitivity. The truck still has a lot of acceleration so it can still feel jerky accelerating on bumpy roads.

Just made this chamge today on an 2008 crew max. AWESOME RESULTS. Just be careful not to drop one of the nuts behind the carpet trim... I was able to trap it and peel the carpet back to be able to get it but my heart skipped a beat for a minute there. Great explanation thanks so much for this!

I bought a 2007 and first thing I noticed was a hair trigger(ATF knocking at my door) gas pedal. I thought it was my lead foot. Thanks again for the help

It’s still not perfect but my wife quit complaining about it. 😂 The truck will definitely get up and go.

What do you think the cause of the jerkiness is from? I thought that my pedal just had a very weak spring. Like the spring to provide enough resistance when I was going over bumpy roads is simply the weight of my foot was pushing Excelerator down. I’m just about to make this change and because of this video I was able to find the right part! Thank you so much.

I never really knew why it was so sensitive. As soon as we got the truck I knew I had to try to do something. I found so many other people in the forums with the same problem. It’s still sensitive but much better than before. I still have to be careful. This truck will get up and go! Good luck with your project.

I just bought a cherry 2 door Cab '07. Not only is it touchy... it's very soft. Like bumps cause me to press the pedal. smh. I'm defo gonna make this change!

Where do you get this for $40? The part pulls up at $240.

Search for “04000-0440C” on Google or in any of the OEM parts sites like Sparks Parts. The list price is $40 but a lot offer them at a discount.

Sorry for the late reply on this. My truck never had an error code so I'm not really sure if this pedal will take care of that problem.

Thanks for getting back to me, I did some research, I’m not really sure how identical between the 04000-0440C compared to 781100C012, I know 04000 is a lot cheaper, your thoughts? Thanks

@@Outdoor-Adventures I was wondering the same thing myself. The part I ordered was the 04000-0440C. When I opened the box, the part in the box was stamped "78110-0C012". It seems like Toyota is using those 2 parts interchangeably.
