@@themaggattack not saying the american accent is bad, but i do agree with you. the american accent sounds quite off to me. i guess it's the lack of diverse vowels (e.g the tendency to turn vowels in words into the schwa sound) and strong rhotic sound (i.e. hard R) that make the american accent sound kinda rough imo.

@Funk O'Matic there are countless atrocious attempts at american accents by brits. the most recent example i can think of i have seen is sophie turner, and she's married to an american. i am in my mid-30s and i really can't think of any media exposure i had to the british isles accents while i grew up so it's probably harder for us. i would argue that probably wasn't the case for a typical mid-30s brit in regards to the consumption of american media.

@@Pixietoria Yes, that happened to me with the brother (Felix?) as well - when he pronounced 'psychopath' like 'psyco-parth' I wondered if he wasn't actually English, and it was confirmed when later he (and Sarah) kept pronouncing 'Castor' as 'carster'. He was so, so close though. But the pronunciation of A's are so swapped between English and North-American, it always catches them out in the end.

I like to think that those times when Sarah and Felix's accents aren't entirely accurate to South London, it's because they lived in London long enough to establish their accents, but moved young enough that their accents would have been slightly warped in places. Same with Rachel. While in Canada, they would have had very little contact with their initial accents except for each other, and so it would warp over time. I would even guess that in real life their accents would be more muddled than they are on the show. You see it quite often with british celebrities that move to america - after several years there, when they are interviewed, their accents will warp in some places and they start to sound 'mid-atlantic' or just very muddled.

Believe me. As Americans, we shudder at a bad accent and can point out bad ones when fellow Americans screw them up.

@@DReed1945 I can't tell if you're doing this on purpose to illustrate the importance of accents but, just in case you're not, it's "shudder".

Wren Poldark it was an accident. I just had to type accident three times. Autocorrect changed it to “CC” and then to “accent dent”.

This whole video is so soothing. I even feel envious of how swiftly she can switch from one accent to another. Bravo!

@@willh2690 No it is not. Great Britain made up of England, Scotland, and Wales. They are separate entities. Calling Northan England sub southern Scotland is like saying northern Florida is basically Georgia. That's just not how geography works.

When she speaks in English accent, she reminds me of Lord John Maclean, that's when I know that she's a really good accent expert haha
