Weird im Missourian and I say Carmel instead of caramel... strange probably because I get some of my accent from my mom is from Minnesota

My husband is from Minnesota too, but he doesn't have the accent anymore because he's lived in Texas for so long. We're going to retire in Wisconsin in about 5 years and maybe he'll pick up the Midwestern accent again once we're living here :-)

I live I MN myself, born and raised, and all you said is how I speak, you nailed it perfectly! I say pop thought, not soda, and yeah I agree, I hate it when people stereotype us just because of what was portrayed in Fargo, it really pisses me off!!! I do say you betcha though. I picked it up from my mom, she says it too.

I have 2 older neighbors that do the whole "yea you betcha" thing. I've got some family members that live way north, and they talk like that...I think it's an "up north" thing.

You know, when I was younger and lived in Georgia, people never said I sounded like I was from MN. Go figure. I think I picked up the accent after moving to the more rural part of MN instead of the Twin Cities. Boo.

The word list sounded pretty normal but otherwise, yeah, Minnesota accent. Yours is pretty soft though. 0:52 I hear it most on "post" and "don't"

When I 1st. heard Sarah Palin speak back in 2008, somehow, I wondered if she was originally from MN, or from 1 of the Dakotas, before moving to Alaska & becoming governor there.
