This clears out a lot of things. Thank you. :) I'm struggling with "-ed th-" transition in two cases. 1. a D sound (no vowel before) After a voiced consonant, as in: subscribed, signed, begged, saved. Struggling examples: subscribed that, signed this, saved these, etc 2. a T sound (no vowel before) After a voiceless consonant, as in: worked, crossed, washed, fixed. Struggling examples: crossed these, washed those, fixed that. I tried your "d-th tip of the tongue cheat" but it sounds different. For example, "signed these" sounds like "sign these".
@crissyfox5533 жыл бұрын
I have been trying to hear the pronunciation as I speak these examples. It’s sounds as if the D or T sound is almost dropped before the TH sound as in sign these but it isn’t dropped completely. It’s more like the ending and beginning sounds run together. So the D in signed gets run together with the TH in these. Maybe what she refers to as Shua? Try that?

@hadar.shemesh6 жыл бұрын
You have to connect the D to the TH. bathed = beithd soothed=suwthd. Since it's a voiced TH, it follows the rule of a D after a voiced consonant.

Hi Hadar! First of all, thank you for the great content you are putting out on KZbin. It has really **helped me** in many ways to improve my pronunciation as a native Portuguese speaker. Do you have an advice for pronouncing **helped me** when speaking fast? Making the transition from the T sound to the M sound is really tough for me. Usually, I try pronouncing both, but one seems to cancel the other and I end up pronouncing none. Any advice or link to previous videos would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the great video. I love how well you speak. I hope you can answer my question. My boyfriend of 9 years said I don't have an accent when I speak. When we first started dating, he noticed that I mispronounced a few words. Right now, I mispronounce only two words a year. He corrects me everytime I say a word incorrectly. I'm very aware of my accent. I asked him many times do I have an accent, he honestly said "no." He said I mispronounce, but when he corrects me, I can pronounce like an American without an accent. He said I mispronounced because no one ever corrected me in the past. He said white people mispronounce too. I asked my coworker once, and she said I have a slight accent. She said "sometimes" she hears my accent. I knew her for 7 months. I don't understand why my boyfriend said I don't have an accent and my coworker said I have a slight accent? I spoke to this white man once, and he told me that he could tell I wasn't born in USA. During college, my teacher told me I didnt need to work on my communication skill. By the way, my boyfriend was born and raised in USA. He speaks flawless English. I came to USA when I was 8 years old. I just turned 8 like a month ago too. Growing up, I surrounded myself with people who spoke good English. Some of them spoke with broken English though. I went to college, and I passed all my English classes. They were super easy. I live in USA for 23 years. My question is: who should I believe? My bf or others people? Do I have an accent or not?

Example I hear people that say I work(ed) "t" it out and other people say I work(ed) "d" it out. Which one is right? Thanks
@hadar.shemesh6 жыл бұрын
Definitely T. It's 'impossible' and unnatural for Native speakers to make a D there. A t turns into a D only when it's between 2 vowels and unstressed. That's not the case here
