Oh I can relate so much to what Marianna is saying in this video to being creative in thinking of ways to learn English. I am also a teacher of English for Academic purposes and have a phd in sociolinguisctics and what you both say about the confidence in speaking English in those who use the language is so widespread. My research also illustrated this among multilingual professionals (!) Many of my participants said that they felt less professional in their work (despite tons of knowledge and experience) when they are confronted in a conversation with native English speakers. It is all about our beliefs that we have, it's fed to us through education that teaches that only the standard is possible and best. It is so interesting and fascinating to observe and to think it is "only" a language aspect. Sorry for such a long comment, but I really find it fascinating. Great video and speaker. Thank you!

Congratulations Hadar for choosing this story and this very transparent and inspiring girl. I'm Spanish and I'm trying to learn English and your conversation was very useful for personal content and its content in English. I'm using that method of repetition with this podcast. hahaha. Thanks also to Mariana for sharing her life. Greetings from Spain.

Whoah! What a great conversation. I can relate to Mariana's story of that first day in school not knowing a word of English and sitting in the classroom asking myself what the teacher was saying. Also, it's so true that when you surround yourself with people who only speak your native language your English pronunciation suffers because you feel comfortable, and the effort to become fluent is placed on the back burner. Hadar, thank you for all you do to help all of us improve our English.

That was amazing. Well, this girl is smart. It's a tip that it should follow especially watching some movies with three languages. As she said, she was watchig them in spanish, english, russian, ... At the same time, she was learning these languages. So I am going to thank her for sharing . And I mean that her method is the way to understand any things as english language. A part from that, I can say that she is actuellement ressourceful girl. Congratulations Hadar for this interview.

I beg to differ. Even though both Romanian and Spanish are romance languages, they’re different. It’s like saying French and Spanish are the same, I don’t think so. 😉
