Brilliant....it’s a process. Rob has gone deeper in the true understanding of OCD and anxiety disorders than 99% of information out there.

Great info Rob. Working hard on the perception and perspectives especially as I struggle with real event and false memories of my past. Reading “Stubbornly refuse to make yourself miserable” as well and shifting the perspective of “good” and “bad” people and just people who may have done “good” or “bad” things and ultimately irrational, dogmatic fed beliefs as well that are consumingly and effortlessly controlling. Much more thoughts I can articulate here but without going on a tangent; shifting away from “musturbation” and “should haven’t” statements and living more in the gray is surely freeing and I can see the freedom it certainly entices on ourselves. You have a great voice by the way! You should be doing voice work as well. Thank you for all of your wonderful work you and your association does for us suffering and in the midst of our recoveries.

Man, there's this quote in Band of Brothers that I always remembered and it goes like "the only way to function properly as a soldier is to accept that you are already dead". It always struck me as a very true statement. But man, it's not easy to do. It's a gradual realisation ok, but then there must be way to guide someone along the path towards that realisation right?

Thank you so much Rob! I have had a few therapists, telling me like what to do, accepting and everything, but never gave me the right tools, thanks to your video's, I understand ocd much more, and it really helps to recover! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Because I was doing it wrong, because I didn't have the right tools, which you are sharing in here and other video's!

Rob you have seemed somewhat critical of Mindfulness and meditation but what you just described is pretty much entering that state.... any study of true spirituality or Zen Buddhism is about accepting life in this moment and everything arising in it... if you could do a video on the overlap between your definition of Acceptance and Meditation/Mindfulness/Buddhist approach.. it would be interesting. Love your work! Thx

Mindfulness is helpful but tends to not lead to recovery on its own.

@@OCDRecovery But the practice of acceptance is a mindful attitude correct? Its one in the same.. mindfulness is just a daily practice of being aware of now and not lost in thought.

Acceptance here means no matter what happens no matter how painful uncomfortable it is .. you can stand it .. may be whatever our fears are may come up true .. life is uncertain anything can happen anytime. Like for example some are afraid what if ceiling fan on me fall on me well, I've personally seen videos of fan falling on a family while doing dinner. So acceptance here means no matter what happen you can accept it and stand it no matter what.

@WhItE TrAsH TrUcKeR I have same question...what is difference btw mindfulness and acceptance i think both are same..in mindfulness u r accepted what are your fears and then let them go same as acceptance

Hi. A little confused. So the acceptance of anxiety is basically to allow the feeling? Not try to meditate it away?

But a hermit’s life situation is unlikely a truly conscious choice, imo, more likely a defensive response to life/rship suffering/not coping. The person welcoming euthanasia, yes contextually that might be a positive for them but overall they probably wouldn’t choose their circumstances. Neither of these scenarios bring relief to think about.. being alone & unloved for rest of my life (e.g worst case scenario) brings more fear. That is the fear. Sometimes acceptance helps me but other times just leaves me feeling hopeless.
@mominmasood
@mominmasood 4 жыл бұрын
That's your perspective on their situations based on your experiences and outlook on life. You can't know for sure what their mindset is going into those situations. Even if they may not have actively chosen those paths, they still have acceptance of their situation. No one chooses most of the things they get in life, just like we don't choose to have OCD. But now that we have it, rather than wishing it away, we have to make the best of what we have in the present and work on it.

@@mominmasood thanks for your reply. I hear what you’re saying. Think I find it hard to separate out my conditioned projection of what a worse case scenario would feel like.. in general the idea of acceptance as Rob speaks about I am definitely finding helpful. Thanks for your reflections.

What is diference between OCD and GAD? is in fact GAD a OCD about how anxous feel all the time? And compulsions doing to reduce anxiety. More or less same things driven by the fear🤷‍♂️

But how normal ppl wont deal this way of fear ...... Whats different in them . Its really frustrating that root cause and proper target treatment doesnt exist . Sometimes i feel its like triggered and cant be reversed .
