I've been thinking a lot about that recently. My last DoorDash run I had 4 hours of dash time and 45 minutes of active time. In California, we have some nice benefits -- one of which is a quarterly healthcare stipend if you work a certain number of hours per week ($735 for 15 hours per week, $1470 for 25+ hours). I have weeks of like 40 dash hours but less than 10 active hours (and that's not with like cherrypicking, I have hours of receiving 0 orders total). I'm trying to do the thing but DoorDash is actively not serving me enough orders. They control the algorithm and the benefits of the algorithm, it's really messed up.

Here's my perspective as a driver and customer who worked for tips for a while. I pay for a dash pass and still get charged delivery FEES!😂 Then they have a $2.99 direct to me. So I'm giving DD $120 a year for dash pass to still pay fees. I always order near by so its ridiculous that they have a fee. So i normally tip around 8-10 bucks. I noticed the more i tip the longer my order takes. So then I started tipping less and my food arrived fast.😂 So I'm done tipping good. There's a guy who orders by me who used to tip $5 every time for this 1.2 mile trip. He quit tipping also. I understand why. So if there's no incentive to tip good there's no point. You're better off typing 0.00
@teelong5265Ай бұрын
It's not the customer's responsibility to get you up to accurate pay that is DoorDash responsibility. They shouldn't be offering nobody two or three dollars for a trip. DoorDash is your payer not the customer for a tip. A tip is not mandatory but to pay somebody for driving all over town is.
@AwakenToRealityАй бұрын
My thing is: I usually do not mind tipping but there are days when you don’t really got it but want a nice meal? Paying for the delivery is probably the only option without tipping. Like someone said it’s not the customer responsibility to give you good tips to make it reasonable for you to be paid for. DoorDash need to dish out money for you guys especially how much money they make from Dashpass monthly subscriptions from their customers.

And don’t forget the tip baiting which is technically literally illegal they just are banking on the fact that nobody who drives for these delivery apps would either have the knowledge or education to know that that is an actual literal breach of contract and could be taken through the civil court and won or even if the people driving have enough knowledge and education and information to be able to know that that type of issue should go through the courts and would be favorable winning for them. The apps are banking on the fact that nobody who does this job has the resources available meeting the time and the money available to actually go through the process of a court hearing to file suit against the person who breached the contract, a.k.a. the tip BAITER. I’ve been hung up on my support before because when I drop that bomb on them, they really didn’t have any response because they knew it was true that I could take the customer to court and win so they hung up on me.😂

It’s hard enough to even the get food from some places. If I start making them open bags they will surely remember me. I don’t want that. I want to be a ghost. The problem with NOT cherry picking to try and up your hourly rate is that you can easily get $20/hr or more at many fast food joints you are going to deliver for. Not to mention you don't put all those miles on your car and thus you dont have to deal with the maintenance costs. Trust me, the tax deduction doesn't even begin to cover the gas and maint on most vehicles. A wheel alignment will cost you up to $200 bucks but those shocks/struts will cost you north of 1200 bucks. These apps know what they are doing. They get paid even when you don't. So is it really worth the time and effort and wear and tear on your car to go for the bonuses on high acceptance rates? @@meggison4674 it varies market to market. Like some of the zones here by me will have promos constantly, others don’t. As far as the “benefits” of platinum, I utilize it for the Dash Now feature and could care less about the other “perks”, or lack there of.

@@howdydoody8258 depends on your market. I feel like a balance between the 2 if key. But I also look at it like “I’ll do 3-5 dashes in an hour and get $17-30 in that meantime, or sit in a parking spot burning my stats waiting for one order for $20+”…. Figure out what works best, experiment and find YOUR balance.

Your problem is you’re so focused on getting good offers normally, that you’re stuck in the lower tier rewards. You gotta get platinum. It has made an insane difference here in Spokane
@donnak.84222 ай бұрын
I've been platinum for 5 months now. They still send me low offers quite often; when I decline it takes my acceptance rate down 1 percentage; is it still the case that you can be deactivated if it falls below 80? Or is it 70, i don't remember.

I like this kind of video. I did guess on that poll: $20+ per hr. I was wrong. That $17.5 per hr gross is a bit rough.
@patricethorpe94302 ай бұрын
It isn’t pay per hour! It is pay per MINUTE. $16.50 / 6o minutes = $.27.5. A minute. It really is a bad choice in most areas. It works really well in rural areas. Especially with several small towns spread across the work area.

Dude those orders you're saying aren't the best are some of the better ones these days. It's tough sledding out there where even the $1 a mile orders are getting rarer. I've been seeing a ton that are in the 50 cents a mile zone or worse. How about 10 miles for just the base pay? That's what they've been pumping a ton of in the CLE But what I really don't understand is how you are so cool calm and collected while you're dashing? Where's the road rage? Where's the fights with the restaurants, the customers, the atrocious dasher support? I didn't even see one crackhead or potential turf war during your drives. It seems like a whole different world.

There should be a way to switch dash types without ending your dash entirely to switch. I schedule for 6-10 hrs a day. And if I want to switch from by offer to by time I have to end my dash which kills my entire scheduled time.

I didn't do cash on delivery. I didn't want to have to be responsible for taking back an order or responsible for paying for an order. Returning an order takes more away from your time making money. The only time I don't mind returning an order is when I'm using Spark due to me heading back to that area anyway.

@@jasonhardin8383 on returning items, one time Uber gave me a gopuff alcohol order for some White Claws I took as my last gig because it was going a few blocks from my apartment. Its like 12am and I’ve gone over my 12 hour driving limit but there was no address on the order after pick up 😮 I hit the navigate button anyway and it took me to an apartment building basically where I thought it would so I called the customer, no answer. Called support and they said if customer doesnt answer I had to return the item to gopuff almost 30 mins away! I told them I had an emergency and couldnt do the return. after a 15 min phone battle being threatened w potential deactivation and then threatened to lose my alcohol delivery privileges they just said eff it throw the alcohol away. Never taking a gopuff order again uber cant even contact the customer which is not my fault or my problem. Just drank the last white claw yesterday lol

I constantly see negative comments about contract app delivery, and I wonder how many of them are from ppl who earn decent and simply want to NEG out any new competition... Today, an end of the month Sunday, I earned $32 per hour for 11 hours. "Yeah, but what about expenses..." I drove 123 miles at $0.35 per mile all-in. It cost me $43 to earn $352. I wasn't getting angel offers... I was just accepting profitable offers in busy areas hoping for a stack offer. And stacks just kept happening. IMO, the algorithms like the people who are driving. I'd take a nice paying order a little ways away from any potential next order... and then accept $1 per mile orders just to bring me back with the idea that I could potentially stack it to $1.75 or higher. I don't usually take $1 a mile orders, but I gonna have to drive some of those miles dead anyway, so why not? And I just kept getting stacked. One order at $1 a mile turns into $2+ with a stack offer... yes, please! Dollars to miles, income to cost; this was my third best day ever.

Which means the only time you can Dash is when can you schedule and the only open times that you can schedule is from 3:30 a.m. till 4:30 a.m. and you can't make a whole lot of money dashing 1 hour a day

I had that happen to me before (where the customer gets notified that you can't find them) - The ONLY thing I can think this might be is ANOTHER Dasher had the order and then opt'd out of it and pushed it back. This tells their system "delay" and it may notify the customer too. They think it's because we can't find them and they call, since it tells them to contact us.
