No no no no Rubbertail! That shit breaks to easy. If you want that they use it for the newish Ariel Doll with the Color Change feature. A good Articulation in a Mermaid Doll where the 2023 Ariel Sister Pack. I would love that for Barbie and her Friends.

I think this time they looked acceptable as pixelface exactly because of what you were mentioning on the video, they are using all the perks the method have on top of already pretty looking faces, the gradient also makes the surface to have more depth, which in turn makes the pixelation on her lips for example more like a frostlip instead of a pixelated paintjob, because you don't have a clear cut line and a flat color that makes the pixelation like an eyesore on top of the design, I think that someone on higher ups indicated this method to Angel Kent so he probably decided to design a screening that could use the method's strenghts to the max, considering this was the first launch of the odile headsculpt (which he designed or at least she debutted on a doll he designed) on playline

FYI: Black bag came with Combat boots. I got this in my Amazon 2 pack as well. Was so excited. White fabric bag came with orange wrap around shoes and a "straw" hat, with hounds tooth glasses

It is now standard that collectors take a deep breath before opening a Mattel Barbie hoping the doll is not pixelated or wonky eye. I put up with it because of the variety of faces and skin tones…I fall in love with faces pixelated or not. Fortunately, like you, I am artistic enough to repaint the doll.

You can put a little ball of tissue paper in the shoes so they fit properly and you can tuck the tissue so you don’t see it sticking out .

So many people are getting so excited over this doll the same way they did over the cheap looking barbie movie dolls. From a business point of view, Mattel can keep producing low quality junk and they are golden. I don’t buy play line anymore and a pixelated cheap Barbie is okay for young kids but it goes over my head why adult collectors are loving this cheap doll.

I got the pink one in France, she is gorgeous. I love her moulded top, it reminds me of mermaidia in the 2000s. It's beautiful. I think the orange of her tail is a bit too bright though. I also really wish she had articulation in the tail, how amazing it would be. I think they sent all the pink in Europe and kept the lilac in America because I can't find the lilac anywhere here, not in my local shop, and not on Amazon either Maybe we just need to be patient. Let's see

I mean I'm happy to buy a beautiful doll with pixel face for playline price. But keep that in playline, it has no place in signature. But I think we all know if we had the choice between DIJ and normal tampo most people would choose the latter. DIJ can be so inconsistent too, some dolls look grainy but acceptable and some are too grainy and you can even see later lines. I hate DIJ on lips the most cause they don't blend in as well as with the eyes, it is what it is, all things considered if you're a little crafty you CAN paint over and trace the screening with acrylic paints of the pixel annoys you too much. But with Mattel continuing to cut costs for 2024, I feel like DIJ will become way more common in playline...
