This video perfectly explains why we should make sure our digital products are robust with assistive technologies. New developers who are not familiar with accessibility or do not understand why this is important should watch this!

Talking about accessibility, it would be nice to mute the background music in the video. Although I find it bearable for a short time, I like to play videos at 1.5x to 2x speed, and at that speed, music turns into annoying, distracting noise.

It would be great to have an updated version of this without the background music.

In an ideal world, everyone who has a website would have tools in place to accomodate EVERY accessibility issue, from physical challenges (vision, hearing, motor, etc.) to mental challenges (TBD, developmental, etc.). Realistically, however, small businesses are unable to incorporate into their websites EVERY tool or programming implementation available to larger, better funded corporations. Unfortunately, the most recent targets of opportunistic attorneys and individuals have been small businesses, having had more than 20,000 claims filed against them in 2019 alone, in order to extort monies from them. These small businesses were dealt harsh financial penalties and many, ultimately, were forced to close their doors, even after they were able to implement many key accessibility modifications to their websites. Whether this was the intent of the various organizations advocating for accessibility does not matter. Accessibility legislation has become another open door to exploit small businesses for financial gain, more so than any original intent. I have been a graphic designer, web programmer and an advocate for accessibility for more than 20 years. I designed accessibility-infused websites for disabled veterans during this period and, to be honest, with the increased range of what is being labeled as a 'disability' and the lack of concrete guidelines and methods of implementation, I cannot understand how ANY small business owner can afford to implement EVERY accessibility option -- known and yet to be invented. There has to be a better way.

Today 11 -02-2022, almost 2 year after covid. World changing, everything went from conventional to digital, any pay taxes, learning not from school anymore, and all activity will be digitalized. this topic should be aware by big companies and ofc by government too

We need to make the web more accessible! The internet should be accessed by everyone! Which is why we will make a bunch of for-profit screen readers, none of which are standardized, all of which work in a very different way, resulting in an inconsistent experience for the end user. I think that's a great idea! I think it's an even great idea if we then introduce a law that says that you can sue someone for making a website inaccessible (and as we have previously learned, this is nearly impossible to accommodate *everyone*). Free money! Sarcasm aside, web accessibility is an absolute joke. The people who care should standardize the existing tools, like how Chromium and Firefox did to Internet Explorer, and provide good, convenient and actually followable advice for web developers. Make dev tools for this stuff if you want developers to learn how to work with you for gods sake!!

Playing background music through the voice of the engineer as soon as he starts talking is a perfect example of performative accessibility driven by marketing. Maybe provide a transcript so that folks who cannot listen to the video can listen to the transcript. 🤦♂️
