Microsoft's built-in ribbon controls
**The XML used in this video can be found here:

A custom ribbon in an Access application can serve two purposes. It can be part of a strategy to keep users from accidentally making design changes to an application you have built. It can also add a nice bit of "polish" to an application, giving it a more professional look by providing easy access to features provided by the application.
In this video we will:
1. Learn how to find the names of Microsoft's built-in ribbon controls
2. Use an XML editor to add several built-in ribbon controls to our custom ribbon
3. Learn to hide a built-in ribbon control
This will be a multi-part series. In subsequent videos we will discuss:
1. The code needed to perform some action based on interaction with the ribbon, like a button click.
2. Code to make the ribbon respond to the user interface.
3. How to add images that are built into Microsoft Office.
4. How to add custom images that you have created.
The previous video in this series explains the basics of how to build a custom ribbon.

Excellent videos! I've been looking to move my Access 2003 application to 2013 or 2016 and was wondering how to re-do all my toolbar/menu customizations. Your videos have covered everything I need to get started. BTW, would you recommend going to 2013 or 2016?

I haven't used 2016 yet, but I would think might as well go to 2016. I'll probably take the plunge pretty soon.

Hello Jitsu, Great Video Series by the way. I'm finally taking the plunge to learn how to program in MS Access and will eventually work my way up to Using MS Access Front End to a SQL Server Database. I know this is probably basic, but could you give me the code to create the "Select All Text" button on your form. I've tried to view it on the video, and unfortunately it is too blurry to see clearly. Thank you for your help.....

Is it possible to set the idMso="" property equal to a control group from Microsoft Outlook in an Access application toolbar?

+Seth Murray I have never tried to use a control group in Access from another Office product. I'd say give it a try. The built in controls and control groups seem to do a good job of paying attention to what is in the application's window - so some of the controls might be grayed out. Don't really know.

+Access Jitsu This doesn't seem to work, I tried adding several of the controls and groups in MS Outlook to my MS Access App. The error message: "Failed to find Office control by ID". Thanks so much for the video series about the Access ribbon, I enjoyed your videos.

+Seth Murray I was able to try today and did not have success either. Could you automate the functionality you are trying to get, by automating Outlook from Access? If so, you could make a button, etc, and use the actual imageMso from the Outlook button you are trying to get. It might still look right.

Hi, your videos are awesome and I thank you, Sir. Now, I followed your first video and created this: Since I want to hide contextual tab from my users to see, how can I add that option to this code? or I cannot?
