Awesome. Both Melissa Benoist and Chyler Leigh are real life strong female heroes. Having the courage to voice their experience. It is not easy to admit to one's past, one's addiction, one's hardships, one's mental health background. Indeed, mental health is strongly correlated to addiction, as evident in her life. From drug/sustance to behaviour addiction in religious faith. It is not about the "downs." But how you cope and use your voice. We, as females and males, should stand firm and be strong.

Chyler has definitely been through the wars , from Cocaine drug addition from 2001 to 2002, being clean since then, to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2009 and then having to battle herself through COVID in 2020 and to recover from this...Chyler earns my deep respect for someone who has struggled, battled her way through and recovered, she has also managed to keep her family together having been married in 2002 and having three children in 2003, 2006 and 2009, she is may have played Alex Danvers in "Supergirl" but Chyler is her own superhero in her own right and definitely earns this!!

If you can tolerate bipolar from individuals around then you also know how much effort to understand the situation. Don't think that if someone has that diagnosis that they can have an excuse to harm people because of it. It's best to recognize that mental portion as part of their character long term and handle the situation that way.
@Marie-ve2ml4 жыл бұрын
The one thing I would tell someone who has a family member who comes to them with mental illness or emotions they are feeling is to not invalidate their feelings.....For me, I would always open up to a specific family member, and she would always make me feel like I shouldn't be feeling the way I was feeling...She would say, don't be sad about this, just be positive, just be grateful that you have other things like family and friends.....It's important to Validate other people's feelings and say it's ok that you are feeling this way, you are allowed to feel wathever you are feeling.....Otherwise, it makes you feel guilty for having those feelings, you will suppress them, but they'll always come back later if you don't aknowledge them! You are allowed to feel what you are feeling!

I wonder if that is part of the reason why she left Grey's Anatomy back in 2012. Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey, never talks about her sister, Lexi Grey, who is Chyler, whose character died in a plane crash, on the show since. Nor she Lexi to her new found sister or her own children... since 2012. I always thought it was strange..

I'm not to be even remotely aware of her personal crosses, but I hope she does well in regard to that serious cross to bear. But also, psychatric diagnoses are not that easy even for a really highly qualified psychiatrist to carry out, and why? Because they have to interrogate the patent and come to the conclusion based on what they're told, and often they may well goof up, or be mislead by accident by the patient- it's a very "iffy science", not because it's "foggy" but because they don't have a good way to measure this cross in people's lives. I really do wish her the best in regard to her personal crosses in regard to that profound glitch in her psyche that that software error set does serve as, and in regard to her roles' behavior as an actress, I really do hope and pray she'll only accept performing scenes that're morally acceptable- a lot that actors and actresses are currently expected to do is flat-out gross, if not completely immoral at the core, especially regarding the bedroom on film (which should never ever happen), and I really would prefer to have the legion of decency come back into action in regard to protecting these performers.
