He lost his best friend who self deleted so he writes about it in Su1cide, For Joe and How to be me. His songs about his illness include Chalk Outlines, Crutch, Seven Sins, Genesis. A great song to check out for his singing is Back On 74/Message in a bottle. Right now his career is taking off. His album Sick Boi was the #1 album in the UK and the video Money Game 3. He is moving to the US this summer and there is talk about a Netflix series.

You will listen not only to the music, but also to what the person wants to say. This is a serious warning. The renegades have been searching for reactors and haunting their channels for over a year and they cannot stop.

I've never been a rap fan, I'm still not a rap fan, but Ren truly goes way beyond rapping. Oh, he can rap, no denying that! But he can and does do so much more! You've barely scratched the surface of what he has to offer. He is the best I've seen. Even the best and/or most recognized artists --- Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Emenem, Madonna, Elvis --- don't come close to achieving the versatility Ren has developed. Sadly, I think being independent caps how rich and famous he can become, globally, but who knows? times are a-changin'. I'm not sure he cares all that much about how rich and famous he becomes, he seems to care more about people hearing his music and himself making music for people to hear. Please react to his speech "Defining Success," which he offered on the occasion of reaching 1 million subs. It's only about 5 minutes long and is a great intro to him as a person.

Thank you for another great Ren reaction - Sickboi is another favorite of mine, because #relatable. Physically ill, mentally ill, prescriptions, side effects, and the feeling like underneath all the doctor-speak is the accusation that it's all in our heads. And you're dead-on with the thought that treatments make more money than cures - Ren has a series of songs called Money Game (parts 1, 2, and 3) that talk about how f*ed up society's relationship to money is. Glad to hear you’ve been curious enough to look him up a bit yourself. I guess we can go ahead and say welcome to the Renegades? There’s always room for more down the Ren rabbit hole 🐰🕳️ Also 95% of the time I listen to Japanese metal bands and I LOVE Ren. He’s just that special that he connects to people no matter age, geography, or even their usual preferences for music. I think a big reason is that he is so real and not afraid to be vulnerable. We don’t just love his music but the sick boi behind the art. Finally I think the perfect follow up to this is Crutch feat. Bibi. If Sick Boi is an expression of all the built up frustrations from being misdiagnosed for years, Crutch is the early fear and pain when you don’t know what’s happening to your body. Also it’s very different from everything else in his catalogue and a song I think a fellow metalhead will love 🖤

Welcome to the RENegade family! If you want to hear more "singing" Ren, I really recommend checking out one of the songs he did with the street busking band he was a part of called the Big Push. There are two amazing mash ups - one of War Pigs and the other is an I Shot the Sheriff mash up (be sure to get the videos where Ren is wearing red suspenders - best sound quality). Ren has so many music genres in his back pocket, that you will be amazed as you dive down into his catalogue. Some serious, some are just fun. The Money game trilogy will blow you away (for part 2, use the lyric video which is the full version). Loved your analogy to a musical equivalent of a panic attack. I suffer from those too and you are spot on!

I'm so glad to have found you and can't wait to see your journey down the Rabbit Hole. You will find out this path has many additional doors that you will come across. They will be labeled "Sam", "The Big Push" and "Chinchilla" to name a few. They are all amazing. Its a wild ride that even as obsessed as we all are none of us have found the bottom yet. Ren is endless music of all kinds. Im 47 years old and to be honest..before I found Ren and the RENagades a year ago I had pretty much given up on humanity as a whole. Im so grateful to Ren for showing me that real authentic people still exist. I believe Ren found the lock that opens all the broken hearts in the world on one of his many trips through hell and he kept it safe in his pocket until he was well enough to handle the pressure that would come from unlocking it. He then sat down and wrote Hi Ren and started as he said in his Diss to King Dotta "A new counter culture in this world of division." Enjoy the ride. We are all a little jealous of you right now. Rens first band was Trick the Fox. Please watch Trick the Fox- A poem by Ren even if its just for yourself. Ive begged others to do it because its not well known but something every struggling human needs to hear. ❤

Cue mouth-drop… 😅 I like your observation about the vocals/music conveying a panic attack. I read that he made the pounding beat intentionally overpower the “therapist’s” vocals. He produces his own music and is brilliant at letting music convey different emotions. And as you have already noted, he does not shy away from generally taboo subjects. This song hit me like a sledge-hammer. Music literally saved Ren’s life during his darkest days. His music and the community he has cultivated have had a profoundly positive effect on so many lives. 💔❤️‍🩹❤️

Great insights into the songs. Never worry too much about how you interpret Ren's music, he always leaves things a bit ambiguous so that they are inclusive of other people's struggles not just specific to his. He isn't prescriptive or possessive about it. The meaning each person takes away from each song is as important as his initial intent or inspiration. It's why we love him and can see ourselves in his music. ❤ I think you'd like his song Heretic as it has a great anime video. (Judging from the posters behind you.) You might like The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) as you like metal. Less singing but more storytelling. For singing, his band The Big Push showcases his singing best I think.

I’m 57 and in all those years on this planet I have never seen a talent like Ren. I have MS (a different autoimmune disease diagnosed when I was 39.), I have suffered with depression and anxiety since I was 19, PTSD from time in the British Army and Hi Ren literally saved me when I first heard it in January of 2023. It’s not just me either. He’s changing lives all over the world. Each one of us a Renegade. We come from all walks of life, different musical backgrounds and we are from all age groups. Like you I’ve always been into metal and while Sick Boi is predominantly rap based it is still amazing. Ren refuses to be confined by genres. He’s a singer/songwriter, rapper, storyteller, poet and philosopher! It’s a very large rabbit hole. He also has references between his songs and hidden Easter eggs. Every detail is intentional. There’s also his band The Big Push and his many collaborations with amazing artists like Chinchilla. I haven’t been this excited about an artist since I saw AC⚡️DC play live when I was 17. This one's one of my absolute favourites. The Bulgarian choir sample mixed with that grimy beat with Ren's lyrics over top is just so good. I'm 50, and I've been climate-concerned for 40 years now, and the chair smash-table flip in this video is SO GODDAMN CATHARTIC. We need more art tackling the multiple environmental crises we're facing, and it's a subject Ren doesn't ignore. If you're interested to do more heavy autobiographical Ren next, I suggest the live version of Chalk Outlines (one of the songs that vies with Sick Boi for my favourite) or Diazepam. Both are Ren showing you what an incredible vocalist he is. Diazepam has some absolutely beautiful guitar playing involved (which is Ren too of course); his guitar in Chalk Outlines is an impressively stripped-down to not compete with the vocals. If you think you might like a break from the heavy emotion material, a fun yet still autobiographical choice is Love Music 1 (back to rap) - written maybe 14 years ago, and I *think* recorded (but not released) before he ended up largely confined to his bedroom with misdiagnosed Lyme disease. Or maybe Humble, a helluva banger of a tune. If you want to delve into Ren and social criticism, the 13min long complete version of the trilogy of Jenny/Screech/Violet (absolutely essential to watch them together & in order or you won't catch the story) or start the Money Game trilogy. A fun part of the Money Game trilogy is that Money Game 3 is set to piano, not guitar. ... don't ever shy away from checking out titles that are collabs with other artists whose names you don't recognize (in the list above, Chalk Outlines and Humble) - Ren doesn't have the time or energy to fart around with people who aren't able to connect with him on a very intimate level, creatively. There's not a single collaboration project I've seen that hasn't been every bit as earth-shattering as his solo stuff (including with his former busking band, The Big Push... they're all creative geniuses imo).

For God sake don't look away for a second! You will always miss important things 😂 But yeah, I do understand as it is a really catchy song. About the RENegades. It's our fault all the comments on KZbin is so nasty, because all the nice and supportive people are only watching Ren reactions and commenting in this videos... 😊 A tip, rewind 5 seconds after you pause so you don't miss anything. Some songs will almost be ruined if you miss important parts. As you missed my favorite part in this video while you had your eyes closed. Be prepared to be shocked how well Ren handles EVERYTHING. Btw, the yodeling part in Hi Ren is actually an opera vocal technique.

If I don't love a Ren song the first time it only takes a few listenings to it and I get it and love it. It took 6 months for me to start listening to anything except Ren again.

Ren.... Casually changing the world. Money game series is amazing. Depression, chalk outlines, suicide, hi ren, seven sins... all amazing. Being a Anime fan you should check out the band Maximum the Hormone from Japan. Amazing group. Songs: yoshu fukushu, hungry pride, alien, lets talk about menkata cottelee, koi no sperma. :)

You're going to get tons of suggestions and they're all worthy suggestions. With Ren, spin the wheel and be amazed. BR (before Ren) I listened to primarily alternative country/folk music. My album of the year prior to Sick Boi would have been Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit with Weathervanes. I'm definitely a lyrics person and always said that I didn't care about genre if someone had something to say...Ren reminded me of that.

The Sick Boi album is mainly rap, but he has many, many other songs where he is singing as well. Try Diazepam, Heretic or Everybody Drops.

I just really loved watching people react to the music I enjoyed and experiencing it for the first time. You can listen to a song 1000 times but you can only experience it for the first time once. I get pretty self conscious that I'm going to get something wrong and people will be upset, especially with such sensitive topics, but with all the supportive comments my confidence has grown quite a bit. This helped me be really open up about my own struggles when I reacted to Diazepam yesterday. I have really enjoyed Ren's music and I cant wait to continue down the Ren rabbit hole!

So many good suggestions in the comments - if you want to see what he can do vocally, be sure to check out his Fred Again Mashup (mashup of 5 songs from UK EDM/DJ Fred Again, but adapted to guitar), and his retake of Back on 74/Message in a Bottle (Back on 74 is by Jungle, Message in a Bottle by the Police). His vocal range is incredible, and his guitar skills as well. If you look up his band, The Big Push, they did a mashup with Paranoid by Black Sabbath that's pretty stellar for your metal taste (and a ton of other material you'll likely appreciate). He has a pretty massive catalogue, and while I haven't made it through everything yet, I have yet to hear anything that I didn't enjoy... also a metal guy, so yeah - enjoy!

I would, but I love that song and I've already listened to it a ton of times. Erra is one of my top bands along with Periphery. I had their new album playing while I was streaming on twitch the day it came out (last weekish). I was considering doing "Review" videos on things I've heard and I just look at them deeper or something like that. If you have any ideas for how I could pull this off I'm open to suggestions. The choir in the background is a Bulgarian folk tune (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGjXfGRon9R7bdk). It has also been used by D Smoke & Snoop Dogg in "Gaspar Yanga". I'm not sure if Ren did that on purpose.

He was in in a incredible amount of pain for years and doctors were telling him it was all in his head. All the while Lyme's disease was wreaking havoc all around his body. So yeah, let's say he was really let down by the medical system. And at the same time music business was coming after him with their molds trying to make him conform for money. Maybe after this you could try his Money Game Trilogy. See you in the next one.
