His Royal Highness, Nahnken of Sokehs, Hilario Jack (b. 1953, 70 years old) narrates the account of Lepen Palikir, Isoeni’s ceremonial mat (losalap). The mat was a gift to Nahnken of Kitti, Nahnku (Isoeni), who was Nahnken from 1843 to 1864 and was the father of Henry Nanpei.
According to a historical record, Lepen Palikir was invited by Wasahi of Madolenihmw to join him at Rohnkiti in feasting Nahnken in 1864. Although he didn’t attend it, he invited Wasahi to Palikir. Three major chiefs, Lepen Palikir, Wasahi and Nahnken were political allies, who were in favor of American Protestant missionaries’ activities (Hanlon 1988: 120). There is no name recorded for this Lepen Palikir, although the paramount chief of Sokehs, Wasahi Sokehs, Keimw Sapwasapw, who seized power in Nett, taking the title of Lepen Nett until his death in 1874, also had a death honorific name (esenpweli), Isoeni (Hanlon 1988:153-154, 252).
