In this video I walk you through three questions which are similar to the type of questions that may come up in the AAT level 2 synoptic exam and as I talk you through the examples I explain the reasoning behind each of the journal entries and why we account for certain transactions in the way that we do.
Here is the AAT level 2 playlist which might also help with your studies :)

Note there are two errors here I released the wrong video above so we have the sales ledger above which should be total and be on the debit side and the purchase ledger should be the total on the credit side xx

Thanks for the video. Will the entry in the Sales Ledger (Perfume Sales) be a Debit, rather than a Credit? I thought the Sales ledger mirrors the SLC a/c. Also, same for the Purchases Ledger (Gas Cylinder), I thought the entry would be a Credit, rather than a Debit. Thanks.

I'm wondering whether to start AAT, but I'm not an expert at Maths, (C) at GCSE, can I still succeed?

Hi S K yes certainly you don't need to be great at maths and I believe you can still get an aat apprenticeship with a C hun. It's a common misconception about maths and accountancy but there are lots of other skills required instead such as people skills, the ability to work towards solutions and have an analytical view to information provided to you which is taught through an apprenticeship and the aat qualification x I hope this helps hun and don't be dissuaded :)

Hi, Thank you so much for replying. I am like a lot of other people, I'm in my early 30s and looking for a career change. I am looking at the AAT as its something I could study along my full time work. I have no idea actually whether I would like it or not, so is there anything you can recommend I do? Also, if I do study the AAT up to level 4, would I be able to find work and what sort of salary would I start on? How did you get into accounting yourself? Thanks again and hope to hear back from you.

@@SK-jj4si Hi S K yes you can study the AAT alongside work so you could take online classes after work or on the weekends for example or even go into a college and study if you prefer face to face study. I personally got into accountancy over a decade ago and studied and worked in an accountancy practice for 7 years then moved into industry after that. If you take a look at the current job market there are quite a few roles going for an AAT part qualified individual but it does depend on geography of course. You can expect anywhere from 11k on an apprenticeships wage up to 19k for an individual on AAT level 2 and somewhere between 19k and 24k for an AAT level 4 studier. This does however depend again on prior experience and other factors such as if you are in the North or South etc. so its hard to put an exact figure on how much you can get paid but the above should give you a guide :)

Thank you, that's really helpful. Can you advise anything I cpuld try to see if I like the work or not? I couldn't even 100% explain what an accountant does, all I know is about working out tax, profits etc. Thanks for your reply
