Thanks for the compliments.

Wow, that's quite an inspiring layout and engine. I am still playing with G-gauge LGB (Mogul) and Spectrum (two-truck Shay) electric trains. Would love to graduate to your level someday soon!

Thanks for the compliments. Look for an Accucraft Ruby. That’s a nice starter in live steam.

Really nice. In the curves, do you use accucraft flexible track? Do you nail them? in stones? Are their curved shapes "memorized" in the metal?
@fatfarlake Жыл бұрын
I used Peco 45mm track fixed with screws In conrete.

@@fatfarlake congratulations. That was a lot of work.

I have two terminal loops with LGB-R3 (Radius 1170mm). The distributer of Accucraft Germany (Schug) told me about R1200mm is no problem. What is your experience about it - it´s a lot of money for the B-class! Thank you

I would not do it. I've noticed it's really too tight. This locomotive unfortunately needs a larger radius than LGB R3. I watched some videos of your gardenrailroad and if the tracks on the bridge are LGB R3 I certainly wouldn't buy the Accucraft Shay. The Regner Heisler runs on R3 without any problems.

Hi, thanks for the long version ! ;-) Can you recommend this loco? I already have an early open cab Class A Shay made by Accucraft. Runs fine so far after some tuning. But this Class B Shay is more what I'm looking for for "regular" service. But it's actually a lot of money, so I try to be sure before investing into a new loco. How about the gas tank inside the water tank? Somehow I don't trust them, as any live steam loco I owned so far, had the gas tank right beside the boiler to prevent the tank from freezing. Thanks in advance, Gerd

Hi Gerd, If the radius of the curves on your gardenrailway are greater then R3 or wider, then yes. The three cilinder Shay isn’t so flexible as the real one. The Accucraft 2 cilinder Shay can cope smaller curves. The gastank is in a water-bath which prevents it from freezing . There’s also a handpump in the watertank to fill the boiler under pressure. For more information email me. I’ll send you my e-mailadres Greetings Dick
