Hello from Montreal, I’ve had my E-4000 for two weeks now. Out of the box it sounds beautiful. I was going to go for the class A E-800 but it’s an extra 5000$ cnd. I compared them both and found it wasn’t worth the extra money. This amp has a smaller footprint and weight so it fits nicely in a rack. Plus it has plenty of power to drive my 87 db Verity Parsifals speakers. I also purchased the phono preamp card add on for my turntable. It works very well. Accuphase is not cheap but in Canada it’s cheaper than in the US, so a lot cheaper than the equivalent Mcintosh. It’s classy, old school with quality parts. I’m actually looking for an Accuphase tuner yes tuner for radio. Montreal has some great radio stations and the sound quality is more direct without the glare when you stream. I love listening to hockey games on radio. (Ice hockey) I appreciate your videos and how you went through all the amps to selecting the Accuphase.

Hi, if your considering these higher end amps you really need to hear them for yourself. (You probably know that) anyways I just bought E-4000, I was lucky to compare and listen at a local shop. They let me take it home for a weekend so you get to touch it etc. somehow in Canada Accuphase is cheaper than in the states so comparing it to the equivalent Mcintosh and Luxman it was a no brainer.

What a beautiful amplifier. Love the layout, the gold finish, those meters... I also like how it has functions to act as a preamp or power amp only. Like it would be common to find components better than the ones internal to the E4000. 😆Maybe for the billionaires out there for whom Accuphase ownership is a stepping stone rather than a lifelong aspiration. Apparently their engineers have a sense of humor.

I love my E4000. Very clean sounding. The 240 volt models have an ECO mode that is on by default. Need to turn it off otherwise the amp switches itself off after 2 hours even if it’s playing music. I like the larger meters on the E4000 than was on my previous E280. My only niggle is the remote would be far better if it could be used to power on the amp, activate loudness, turn meters off & on. Luxman remote has these functions but the beautiful looking Accuphase remote is lacking in these functions.

You know how this stuff works. The farther up you climb, the less of a return you get. The SU-R1000 would be a closer competitor and sounds magnificent. If you can find that one, it will give you an idea what the $10k price will get you.

Sound is slightly different and Pre Amp section is better in E-4000 but I would go up to E-5000 if I want to upgrade from E-480, thanks

@@stjernholmreviews Oh you will have to use HDD copy software like carbon copy with your computer to do that but Sense Me or Playlists are not stored in storage drive, it's in the memory. You have to avoid factory reset if you want to keep them in place. I haven't done this method but I would try this, turn off Z1ES - unplugged AC power -remove original drive - carbon copy (software) to new drive using your computer and 2.5" USB drive enclosures. it might work without harm, so we can avoid factory reset on Z1ES, it just an idea I'm not sure it would accept new drive that way but worth the shot to me if I'm trying to preserve the setting, thanks

I am considering this exact Accuphase model and went to my local dealer and he told me if you could stretch another 1.5k euros E650 would be a better choice 🤔 I’m not sure, I have to do more digging in to it. I have the E650 and upgraded from thr E480. My speakers are Dynaudio contour 30 standmounts. The E650 definitely has plenty of punch, it's very lively and controlled. I would say the E480 it replaced was a bit warmer and Fuller, a fantastic amplifier. I listened to the E4000 which is slightly cleaner in overall presentation than the E480. The E650 class A has an incredible amount of detail and dynamic swing and timing is I Off the chart. The bottom end is detailed and very precisely controlled. The mids are more open, detailed, upfront and lit up by comparison the the AB Accuphase integrated. Top end is equally detailed but never over etched or fatiguing over long listening sessions. Both E4000 and E650 are superb amplifiers. If you want detail, control and precision the 650 gives you that in spades. If you value a slightly more relaxed layed back warmer presentation then the E4000 is probably the way to go. This is from my own personal perspective and through my speakers. Bottom line, you can go wrong with either, it's all down to personal preference.

Hello from Montreal, when I auditioned my E-4000 I was actually considering the E-650 class A amp. I switched to the E-4000. It's very subtle difference but it has a smaller footprint and a lot cheaper. I took my time, the store actually let me take one home for a week. In general with any of these more expensive components you have to listen to them. All the best

However, no other Amp manufacturers can do better than Yamaha in accurate transparent sound because they are the only one can produce pretty much all musical instruments.

Accuphase has a 3 year warranty and will not service the unit if it was purchased from outside the country of residence which I see as sorry to say a shitty policy and practice. Nah, at this price point an integrated is questionable for me, I would lean more towards a separate preamplifier+amplifier setup like a MC462 2-Channel Solid State Amplifier by McIntosh, quad balanced @450 watts per channel, 115 pound amplifier approx cost $10K dollars. My impressions of the higher end Japanese audio brands are that of impeccable build quality however the sound can be too polite for my preferences acting like a filter of sorts the analogy being the music is forced to take off the shoes at the entrance of the house, no shoes in the house kind of sound signatures

Hi, yes but it’s all relative. If your starting out you don’t buy a 15000$ cnd amp. I just bought this amp and it’s my last amp. I’m 58 and I work, I’ve always had some kind of stereo hifi system since I was 18. I love music, I started with a cheap Realistic receiver and speakers.(remember Radio Shack) we had radio and vinyl. Over time and as your ears develop your sound you’ll want to upgrade for better sounding equipment that will give you that sound. And that’s what I did. There’s also used components, so maybe in five years that expensive Accuphase amp will be available for a lot less. There is always a way of achieving something it just may take some work and time. Please try back to back and look closely inside out to see which one have better built and craftsmanship, JDM price doesn’t apply to US market, all audio products are overpriced in general but knowing which ones are worth buying and listening is important for me to make the decision, I could easily buy any Mc I want but I never think they have the sound quality that I want, another thing that you should know is I only try to use the products of independent brands. I try to stay away from the brands under big umbrella as much as I can. BTW: Modern MCs are not entirely Made in USA.

Ha ha I am laughing so hard. You spend 10k for amp then play poor quality vinyl with so many pops and clicks. It defeats the whole purpose of having an expensive amp. By the way, amps amplify, and there is not much difference between any decent amp, since amps aren't supposed to color the sound. You are convincing yourself of minute differences. If you did a true blind listening test between this amp and much lower priced amp, listening at same volume level, I bet you won't be able to tell the difference. Very funny video!

@andrefortune8278 none. Nonetheless, I like the Denon more than the accuphase in design and aesthetics. Accuphase lost sex appeal with the absence of the wooden side panels. For one hand, I like the solid state relays and the volume control that presumes a long life service of the Accuphase, but the more traditional circuit design and deeper class A operation of the Denon...I would keep the Denon.
