Accuphase E 4000 integrated amplifier

E-4000 another good amplifier from Accuphase as usual .If you own the E-480 is not worth it to make upgrade to E-4000 ,well i like the golden ring to be honest..... But if you are looking for a new amplifier in that price range, than do it . Accuphase, pure satisfaction .

Great amp overall! Only the binding posts look a bit flimsy / not up to par with the otherwise premium feel / presentation of the E-4000 😊

yea, i agree. I think for this money they could have given us binding posts that are more like what you get on the Yamaha AS 3200. Those are beautiful solid brass heavy duty. These look like what i had on an old (quality) receiver from 1979.

Congrats… great integrated! I have an E-470 and decide to upgrade with this E4000 or move a step up with E5000 or Pre-Amp combo C2150+P4500. In terms of sound quality, for your experience, there are big or slight differences between them? (E4000/5000 vs C2150+P4500) Thanks!

QUESTIONS: 1) Do you have opinion on the optional DAC & Phono Cards? Too bad they aren't standard and hopefully high quality and not after thought. 2) Are the knobs plastic or metal and do you find them heavy and smooth like many amps of the 1970's? Great video as I prefer an all-in-one solution, thanks!

The DAC and phono card are really good, better than your typical built in for free dacs and phonos. They aren’t an afterthought, they are intentionally left out of the standard amplifier because not everyone needs a phono or dac, and putting them in as standard would only add cost and therefore would be less accessible for some people. Accuphase are aware that their products are designed to last 40 years ish and so they have planned and given themselves a way to add inputs for whatever future technology’s exist that we don’t have today. For instance, Accuphase could ‘conceivably’ add an eARC card or an airplay/cast receiver card if they wanted. To a 20 year old amp. Not many companies have that level of backward serviceability.

The knobs are all metal and feel very solid and satisfying to use.

@@SoundlineAudioNewZealand Maybe I hear the E280 has plastic knobs, which seems strange.....for example, I have a McIntosh MHA150 Headphone Amp and wish the knobs had a heavier, smoother feel. (I guess I'm still living in the 70's with old Marantz gear, thanks!

There is no doubt Accuphase is a great brand, you can buy it without hesitation, but the price is unjustified.

With all due respect, components in accuphase are very genric and cheap. Jean hiraga sounds better than accuphase e280.we compared it in india side by side.

@@Justdigit2 Because I own one and it's far from looking cheap for real. May be you can think of that on video because of light etc ... Also, in terms of design, I don't see how "Chinese" it can look, may be give me some brands name ? As Accuphase always looked like the same (mine is from 88'), and they barely changed design.
