Thanks Tim. I have one more model review after the C55 and then I'm doing a couple of videos on the layout. From a timing perspective, heading into the autumn is a better time for this sort of content.

Another quality running session😎. Have a 37 ROG on order looking forward to that now. Do people think the paintwork on the deltic is up to Bachmann standards? 🤔bachmann do have the best finish ...until now :)

Thanks Matthew. I believe they're close and I'll be doing a direct comparison in my review. The upper bodies are very similar detail and quality wise. It's in the lower body and the bogies where the AS model is streets ahead.

Thanks for that. Yeah, I wanted to cover the crawl as part of the running session. On the speaker front I have seen distortion on one of the models so far when notching up under max volume. I'll get into in the review.

I had received my two from Rails of Sheffield over a week ago, both preserved variants D9002 & D9009 with sound and arrived fully intact and running perfectly out of the box. Honestly, my two Deltics have to be the smoothest and quietest running loco's I've ever owned and the factory fitted sound is superb but could do with a bit more bass and don't understand why Accurascale opted for an EM1 speaker over a more bass driven EM2 which suits the Napier sound perfectly. Anyway, top drawer models with extreme detail and really looking forward to my Class 37's and Class 92's from AS.

Absolutely. Agree on the speaker and I know the Roads and Rails folks have been playing around with it to get over some vibration issues at max volume.

I have been waiting for you to review these critically I.e. unboxing and so on. I have four of these, three of which have had bits fall off in packaging before unboxing. Whilst I find this pretty irritating I can’t fault the value for money at the pre order price paid. If pricing goes up in subsequent models I feel that less detail might be considered. Accurascale are putting “o” scale detail on “oo” models. For the average person who wants to run these locos bits are going to come off. Having said all that I think the sound is fantastic. I used to live in Edinburgh in the 1970’s and was very familiar with watching and travelling on these fine beasts. This sound and speaker system really evokes the memory of standing on the platform watching them come in and indeed depart (with me on them from time to time! ). I would be interested to hear your views on detailing and whether there is a reasonable limit on this

Hi John, I'll certainly touch on this point in the review as we may have reached a tipping point here and I guess the question would be what would you be willing to give up to help keep the cost at the current levels. I probably have an opinion on this based on my experience with 55022. I'm spending some time with D9020 and 55015 now before I finalise the review. Each is a different style of model, D9020 in particular of course so I want to ensure my assessment adequately covers them all. More anon.

I do hope future Accurascale locos have less detail and bits than their Deltic. Mine arrived in perfect condition but to place it on the track you have to handle the bogies so you don't want chains and separate parts on the bogies. I'd prefer molded details maybe picked out with some paint. Its easy to design a perfect model but someone has to manufacture and operate it. Don't let the best be the enemy of the good. On the 92 I hope they put the details on the roof not the bogies.

AS tend to prioritise based on when models were fully paid for. A June 29th order would definitely be at the back end of the delivery cycle. You were lucky to get one that late in the day.
