Platies are popular tropical aquarium fish that are really easy to breed. Today I’ll be showing you how to Tell if your Platy is pregnant and WHEN she will give birth. If you have successfully bred Platies before, let me know, as well as what type they are. BREEDING Platies are quite easy. Just put some males and females in the same tank, they will mate, and the females will breed. To tell the difference between male and female platy is quite easy. Males will have a stick-like anal fin called a gonopodium and the female will have a fanned out anal fin.

@@Aquafinity I have a mystery snail breeder tank set up and I've been thinking about throwing some platties in that I'd like to breed. Do you think they will do okay to breed with the mystery snails in there also?

@@JacobSwisher22 Of course! Platies are live bearing fish which means they give birth to live young. The snails won't affect them at all. 👍🏻

You could put them in a breeder box when they seem close to breeding, just make sure it doesn’t cause a lot of stress.

They will, which is why you need to either put the female platy in a breeding box or provide lots of hiding spaces in the tank. Hope this helps!
