Thought about the same upgrade! I also have the A5x, but my left speaker have drop outs sometimes, so I want to change them. Really appreciate this video right now!

This video was perfectly timed for me, as I just sold two different sets of monitors & needed to upgrade/update things. My set arrived today. After a quick calibration w/ Sonarworks, they are good to go. The Ethernet switch/hub I purchased forever ago finally has a job - and that functionality (no need to reach behind the speakers) is really convenient. I just listened to a bunch of songs today & discovered new layers, different staging, more clarity. These things are LEGIT. 😊

Saw a video from mr. Van Buuren (on Disney+ would you believe it). He uses his old (2 way) monitors he had in his home studio back in the late nineties, early naughties. They pronounce the mid frequencies but that is how he's able to here the most important frequencies (his words) more distinct. Monitoring is so personal. I used Genelec monitors in the naughties. Sold them. Using iLoud monitors now. And HD25 headphones. Furthermore a Sony 630ESD and Sony and Yamaha speakers in an untreated room, with an impressive reverb in it.

HI! Can you hear a slight hiss from the tweeter? I do hear it from 5 or even 7 feet slightly with mine, it"s like a white noise, and level of hiss arises with rising volume control at the back, and drops with lower volume. Nothing connected to speaker. Could you be so kind to check, does your pair hisses to?

I'm very interested in this. I'm testing Adam A8H vs Barefoot 03s for a smaller space. The 03s are really nice with a super pleasing midrange the Adams are winning out mostly but it's difficult in a smaller space. I don't use mine for full mixing either but also just pleasure listening so wanted something a bit louder than the 03s are comfortable doing, but they are no slouches.
@javierojanguren6495Ай бұрын
Hey! Im also doubting between A8Hs and Barefoot 03s, my space is kind of small (4m x 3m), but treated. What did you go for in the end? Ah8? how small was your place? Thanks!!

@@AccurateBeats I can imagine. Hoping to get t7v before the end of summer. And before summer 2025 they hopefully will be replaced by a7v for my main creative listening position. For relaxed/hifi listening I do prefer my quad ESL 57 😁 a pair of those cost as much as one a7v ... Luckily I won't have to choose... Enjoy 👍

I don't get it. Your first measurements on stands showed a bass heavy curve, then you put then on that desk, and it became bass light? Or you also changed the acoustic treatment between measurements? Or before they were exciting more the corners, due to their positioning, and then, since they are a bit away from the corners bass response got more even? The big lesson here is that speaker positioning is key, and don't put it at (exciting) the corners. You should get REW software (free) and make a waterfall graph to see what is actually going on. Cheers, thanks for the vid!
@pedrovaz33017 ай бұрын
By curiosity, it would be interesting to put the old A5s on the same new position as the new ones, or just on top of them and get some rough measurements and compare them in that setup.
@superdisco1017 ай бұрын
I have the same speakers. Two questions. When i did no boost, the signal was significantly quieter, compared to the software sonarworks calibration. Have you run into the same issue? Second question, what snus are you hitting? I ve spotted it on your desk. Did I? 😊

What was the main consideration for picking these ones over ATC SCM25Pro or Neumann KH310a? I assume calibration is not a problem because you can calibrate monitors on interface level or with handy rack like Trinov Nova.
@AccurateBeats9 ай бұрын
Right. Calibration could always be done in one way or another. I thought about the Neumann’s since I love their headphones but a friend has had some weird issues with inconsistency in the mid-range with his which scared me off. Probably just his pair but still. And honestly… I’ve loved my old A5x a ton and felt comfortable staying with the same brand (even though that’s not a very good reason at all). If I had the opportunity to bring the neumanns home, I’d love to test them out side by side but I’m really happy with what I’m getting from the A8H. It’s hard to even imagine what could be improved 🤣

I went smaller, as my room is a shitshow. I can't run dome tweeters because they get pushed to painful degrees, the AMT drivers are directional enough to keep the highs under control. Looks like your initial graph showed the traditional 200hz cut from the wall loading and the bassboost from the room 👀 Single reference is a no reference, always run your mixes through multiple systems to be sure they translate correctly everywhere 😁 And yeah, headphones don't have room modes 😁
@AccurateBeats9 ай бұрын
Yeah, you’re completely right. I wasn’t able to show the entire process I went through here and I’m sure more things could be done. After all this work though… I gotta say that I’m surprised by the improvement I’m getting here.
@pirateradioFPV9 ай бұрын
@@AccurateBeats Initially it's difficult to adjust to the "lack" of bass before you realize the bass you had wasn't real but bloat. In my room the bloat is so bad I only run the sub to adjust the balance between the kick and the bass, then off it goes. Feels almost stupid to pay for a sub when you use it for 15-45 seconds through the process 😄 And it's true, room treatment probably has even bigger effect on your overall system than the speakers do, as long as your old speakers were at least half decent (flat). You can make really good speakers still sound bad in a bad room but most people don't think it's the room that is the problem even if they buy speakers that measure great. They just think that their preferred sound comes, maybe, from another set of speakers 😁

Brother why don't u just do soffit, since u seem to know ur way around wood work and already build what looks like custom panels? Just that should give about 30-50% improvement in low end. That should open up ur mids even more and take care of that top end dip. (This is before even getting into ur room eq).
@bkxt5 ай бұрын
That desk is creating nonsense in 120-200 range. I noticed it's big and looking empty. If u tilt ur monitors.. say 80 degrees (towards floor) it would shift the floor ceiling axis which should help with early reflections :)
